Wagtail clips for Liquidator channels.

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Confusingly in the first link the clips illustrated are the older Velcro clips although the video shows the new (much much better) solution. Second link? Who would know. There's no illustration. From personal experience you will need to contact them as Willie changes his systems at the drop of a hat and a number of stockists are left holding older inventory. ....no problem fitting to Liquidator...

No illustration has shown up in the first link also. Do the new clip on fit onto the liquidator channel ready for the pc flipper Eric? Also what size would i order as the liquidator is not quite 14".

If you order from Peter Erken, you will get the new clip and pad retainers as a set. Yep, no problems with putting them on the Liquidator channels. Order the 14" and trim down to size. Just off to work but will post a couple of pics of mine later on this evening.

I'm guessing for the clips an 8 or 12" for a 14" liquidator would be ok as you have the liquidator clips at each end taking up room. The pad will only clip in either side of disc up to the clip won't it and not all the way to the end like on a wagtail channel (peter erken example video), does this affect the use of the pad at all?.

watch out if you plan on using a flipper allday long. i did just that for 6 months then suddenly my wrists got RSI ,the tingles . i was very upset, here i was cracking on with my work, now im messed up-whats to do now.... i got it so bad they were tingling 24-7

so i switched over to using a seperate Tbar to scrub up then slimline wagtail with no flipper to squeegee. Sure things were slower but not by much, my wrists recovered almost overnight and iv not had any further problem. i believe it was the weight of the flipper when doing the squeegying was the problem

Re comment from Boarcity. Started happening to me UNTIL I did Hermans 20° straighten. At that angle hand and wrist stay aligned. Also don't be tempted to use a heavier pad. Also not good for wrist. If the glass is drying too quickly use a mop in the other hand. On bigger glass use it on a short pole. That also takes away the repetitive strain. If you can, switch hands from time to time. On longer days I scrub with right and switch and blade with left. (Yep I'm a cack hander). ...

just a mad thought, for flipper use View attachment 6645 may be possible to make a totally non absorbent pad topped with a wiljer sleeve. thereby the weight is negated . could fire water onto glass with cup or watergun on approach.

Thanks for all the replies and the information. I'll give the U.K supplier a call today. Interesting info on trimming the clips to fit the channel, thanks. I'll only be using the flipper for pole work above conservatories and porches etc. Everything else will be done with a seperate mop. I'll update after I've spoken to them.

I called the cleaningspot and the clips are the old style Velcro ones. /emoticons/sad.png I did manage to source some from Windowcleaningwarehouse.co.uk though. They aren't listed on the website but the product code is slclip35 for anyone interested. £2.80 I think they were. I have to say that the customer service at WCW is outstanding from personal experience. Cheers for the help guys!

I've cut one of the clips Eric but the underside of it seems to be putting a lot of pressure on the underside of the liquidator clip which in turn distorts the wagtail clip a little

Done that cheers Eric, what do you use to stop the rubber slipping down the channel, got the BD in at moment and it moves as doing it, also the pad hunches a bit in the middle.

I understand that the underside is meant to grab the rubber but it's not held tightly and eventually moves. On the top side the screw just eventually turns and turns without really doing anything. What do you packs yours with on that top side.

I just heat and pinch the back of the clips in quite severely. I've not seen those clear retention clips. Mine are white and I have seen black ones. If they aren't holding the pad tight enough? Same deal. Drop in hot water the squeeze together.

Underside of Wag channel is not designed to hold rubber and in fact if it is then the angle of the channel is probably wrong. If you not going to drill the channel then toss the screw. It will just continue to strip out on the plastic... I used a thin strip of Velcro as packing.. Just experiment until it's tight and the angle is working for you. I'll see if I can find my 'how to'.

Here's a straight cut and paste from a posting I did in Herman's DIY Facebook Group....

this is my latest 'non-destructive way of optimising a Wagtail handle and disc to accommodate the Liquidator channel.

1. Wagtail PC... Untouched... smile emoticon

2. Liquidator channel replicating angle of original channel. Note 'fresh air' at top of channel.

3. Velcro strip used for packing 5-8mm strip to be taped to internal gap. Test fit, if not very firm to slide channel in add a touch more packing.

4. Leave some overhand that can be supported when inserting channel so that there is no fouling between channel, Velcro and the disc.

5. Finished. Note that screw is not required. I have my end clips tight enough to hold the rubber.

6. Good to go. Note that if you don't like it, remove channel, remove packing and 'return to the status quo'. No Wagtails were crippled in this experiment... :)View attachment 6783
