Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum but have been cleaning with pure for a few years. ive seen ubik mentioned on a few posts

how and when would I use ubik is it just first cleans and con/roofs? any advice would be appreciative.

I mainly use it on first cleans of windows, conservatory roofs, fascias, gutters, upvc cladding etc. It's good stuff and makes jobs a lot easier.

Here's a couple of jobs I've done recently with ubik. I hate to think how much longer they would have taken if I'd not used ubik.

I ordered 2 gallons of ubik 2000 yesterday. If tradding do u just put some on your applicator then wipe over the frames then rinse off? For conservatory roofs do you spray it on then scrub it and rinse ?

I never used it when I was trad but I'm sure you could do that. Or spray it directly onto the frame and give it a good wipe with a microfibre.

With conny roofs I spray the whole roof and then go and do something else for ten minutes to give it a chance to get to work then scrub and rinse.

Neat or diluted?

Diluted mate. I normally use ten parts water, one part ubik although play around with it and see what you prefer.

great info guys. if I'm using it on a first clean do I just spray by brush and use for upstairs and how much more rinsing will I have do do to leave perfect glass

After looking on here for some good advice, i use ubik- not sure to what dilution (i guess) mixed with eco cover washing up liquid. I think the eco cover thickens it up a bit so it isn't a too thin liquid that just runs off the brush. Although I would welcome any tips on how to get as much eco cover onto the windows without it running off the brush (still runs off abit). Currently I wet the frames and windows slightly, then i have to bring the brush all the way down to ground level and then backup. Do these pump up sprayers actually work and can anyone recommend one?

I did a minging interior clean

Kitchen was blathered in fat from cooking

Sprayed Ubik ( carefully ) came back and it melted the fat off

Then cleaned as normal

Also I cleaned patio furniture with it - BUT I left to dry on lawn and there is now yellow marks in grass - oops

I got a cheap pump up sprayer from asda. It was literally three or four quid but it's served me well so far. I can spray first floor windows from ground level with it.

Thanks Adams, i'm maybe being an amateur by asking the next question but you have the pump up sprayer- is it now a case of attaching a hose pipe to the sprayer and pumping the UBIK up the pipe to the first floor windows?

No mate, just pump it up and spray it towards the window. No need for any hose. It's not very accurate at that distance but it gets it on the window alright.

thanks Adams0211, i guess it might go everywhere i was just trying to work out how you physically got the plastic bottle up to first floor and still managed to pump the UBIK onto the window. I guess speed is the winner here over lowering the pole applying the brush and then raising the pole again.

Get a pump sprayer mate, the ones you get for weed killing and the like. Get a couple of spray bottles. Fill them all with a good ubik dilution and whenever a job is looking like it'll be a pig, give it a quick spray and let it soak in while you faff with something else. When you come back just clean as you normally would and you will have a much easier time.

I wouldn't have thought ubik would harm the pump but I don't know what pump Gardiner has

My backpack is Shurflo which can even handle hypo

I don't use ubik that often so I reckon I've had a load sat in my sprayer for about a year with no damage to the seals etc. It's just a general purpose cleaner and food safe so it's not too bad.

All these backpacks are essentially crop sprayers intended for weed killer etc

Ubik etc is no issue in them and doesn't harm the seals

It's just hypo i would want a specific seperate sprayer for

Just wipe the frames and sills with a rag wet with ubik and water mate..jobs a good un..carefull not to completely soak rubber seals in case they bleed all the old muck off as wfp washes it away but trad it will dry black on the frames before you can get it all off

I always put a dash in my trad solution when doing insides and never have issues with the greasy kitchen windows and hand prints and bee pollen etc
