Hey guys,

After having almost every drop of blood squeezed out of me working in a hectic city job in beautiful London I decided to leave... which was a shame because I kinda liked being used as a rag!! Although it was very stressful I did actually get on with everyone but, I really wanted to be my own boss.

As things were getting worse I was planning my exit. I looked at window cleaning and thought it was a excellent choice. I like being outdoors, the flexibility and I... I really wanted to be my own boss!

I know there's no perfect job and success in anything requires hard work so I'm prepped for a rough ride at least at the beginning. I've saved a fair ol' bit to cushion me for several months and bought some basic kit, both trad and wfp. So here I am in 2016 very new to this, only a small handful of customers but I don't mind because I... I really want to be my own boss!

Many think it's just tough at the beginning, this is a tough job all year round, the physical side is no issues for most of us but the mental side of this game is what truly makes or breaks newbies.

But don't let me put you off!

I think everyone is different

I don't find the mental side of it hard at all

Maybe as it isn't my first time on the scrim circuit

Having been a sole trader tradder

A subby

A sole trader for a second time

Now a stick waggler

It is old hat

I daresay it is mentally draining at first but i honestly can't remember that far back

Even starting up again wasn't a worry as i had done it before and knew it would take time and effort

I've got no where near the experience of davey boy but I totally agree with him. Becoming a windy is honestly the best thing I've ever done. I have zero stress and when I get home I forget about work until the next day other than the odd message or email.

My round isn't anywhere near as big as some of the guys on here so I guess there will be more stress with running a bigger business but that's something I'm looking forward to.

I get up in the morning, help the wife get the kids ready for school and then go to work. Nine times out of ten I'm home by 2pm with the best part of a couple of hundred quid in my pocket. Spend a bit of time with the Mrs if she's not working, pick the kids up from school and then spend time with the kids, making dinner etc. It really is the best thing I've ever done.

Wowza, thats what I call quality of life! Seems like you got it nailed. A couple of guys I know say £150 a day is a very achievable low-end average. It's very motivating to hear stories like yours.

Welcome Kibs. If you use this site for advice/guidance/help, you won't go far wrong. The guys on here are really professional & helpful,no problem seems to stump them. Good luck.

welcome

You have to remember to say no when the diary is filled, and dont fall for the "oh but i only have a few windows" these are the worst kind, if they cant wait for you to come around you dont need them. and in the end putting in more work in a day than you can do will stress you no end.
