Sent a mass text to all customers with mobiles asking if anyone wanted to sign up received a text back saying, " We don't give out our bank details so we won't be requiring a window cleaner anymore thanks for the service", thankfully I replied saying paying cash is still an option and they have continued wish I hadn't have sent the texts out.

Iv suggested to some people and a few of them have been iffy about it , with the response so far I'd feel like I'd be wasting my time for it because I'm still going to have to go and collect all the other houses anyway!

Yes well I must admit 2 of my worst customers for getting in are on it so it's a bonus for them 2

Signing them up is fairly straight forward but not 'all' will want to use GoCardless, its important to market the use of the service correctly, sending out a bulk text from your number may seem to most a bit iffy, I have the option explained on nice glossy leaflets, and also on the bottom of all my payment slips so they get to see all the benefits, also detailed on my website where only the customer themselves can go on and sign up by been redirected to GoCardless to setup there account.

Perhaps some food for thought for you..

Can you put up a picture of your payment slips?

I spoke to all my GC customers in person and they were all sound, only one chose to stay cash but agreed to leave it in a 'safe' place.

Customer are fine with it if you explain in person but I do agree that I think a generic text may seem a bit 'phishing' I think they call it.

I didn't know there was a £1 minimum charge for a transaction, however it's only "problem" customers who I'll push with Cardless it's just a handful of bad payers or time wasters as I spend more time chasing them up I'll absorb the one pound charge and craftily increase the price of the job by a pound when they've made the first payment, do they have to fill in another form for DD if you increase the price? What happens if the price of a job changes for one month..........say for an "add on" job or just a front Shirley you don't get them to authorise that?

I don't think its a £1 minimum charge the website says "In the UK, the minimum amount for a single transaction is £1 and the maximum amount is £5,000. We may be able to increase this limit with additional verification checks." and "Simple, low pricing - We charge 1% per transaction, and never more than £2. Scale pricing is available." see link for pricing Pricing - GoCardless

So for a £10 job there's 10p charge think I'll send some more "phishing" texts and get everyone on board.

yes thats exactly it, if you have a £10 customer you'll pay 10p. I think it will soon become the go to collecting method at those prices. basically paying 1% of takings to guarantee you are paid on time every time.

might be worth dumping the ones who wont conform?

i have a handfull who are really slow payers and need 3 or 4 text reminders, they do pay but its a pain. Once i get to the point where i really dont need there custom it will be GC or goodbye

the customer who was so quick to want to get rid of you with that snotty attitude would have been fecked straight off, id rather eat beans for a week than put up with that

I just like the idea of bank transfer.Got a lot of mine on it now.
Yeh Bank transfer is good but you still need to bank on them going on and paying you in good time each visit, I have to text remind no end of my bank transfer customers. If they all went GoCardless then you are in control not them.

Trialing go cardless myself. Using it firstly for the customers that take ages to pay and only pay transfer. Even if it's only them that sign up I'll be happy. I've sent out the txt to the ones that owe and explain how it works with the link and so far two have paid up but no one has joined Lol. my only customer on there at the moment is the misses who I stuck on as a trial lol

I think it was a bad idea to send out a mass text like that because most people would think you were trying to rob them.

I have my account number and sort code on my slips so they pay me through there own bank-money transfer, no risk to them. I have my address on there as well so they can post me a cheque. Between that and getting cash it covers all angles, no need to pay a charge like 1-10%
