Electric reel, magic.

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Im just so enjoying having a tank fitted and not humpfing barrels in and out, I can see the light- electric reel and extreme pole, then a tutu:whistle:

Mine issues are roller related.
As my hose goes through rollers I have some tension built in. However it's easy to get carried away and unravel loads. That's only an issues maybe once or twice a week.

My issue is self spooling. But today I managed to get it to spool with the doors shut. There is the chance I can clean houses without ever opening the rear doors again. Maybe.

@Damo, you must have considered Jason's over and under floor pulley system. They seem to work in the video but very expensive in reality.

3 point hose guide pulley system

That's a few ££ eek!

Spruce. Got it sorted. Have all the parts just need to get it installed. Works flawlessly /emoticons/smile.png

I would love to see the result and how you did it. Those 4 roller hose guides you have and that Grippatank supply don't last long, especially when they are subjected to road grim and water under the van. I've seen a few used recently and they are all in a bad state.

In the world of deep sea fishing we use what's known a Multiplier Reels with 'level winder' built in, this lays the line perfectly on the reel as you wind in whilst battling a nice Conger or Skate or Ling for example.

I have previously seen this as the solution to our hose spooling issues, I will leave it with our engineering counterparts. /emoticons/smile.png)

To borrow some words of Nat Jones;

"The best solution for the self layering mechanism is a moving guide arm driven by a self reversing screw."

I would imagine that this isn't as easy as it seems as the pitch (is this the right term?) will be different for 1/2", minibore and microbore hoses. Probably the reason why no one has done it yet on a commercial basis at our requirement level.

Hozelok have that self layering plastic hose reel which was a joke. So the reverse screw has to be made of stainless steel (to prevent rusting) as plastic isn't good enough.

Hmmmmmm, I think my idea will need some work. On a Cox reel it was working ok. Just took up a lot of space. The reel was slow. So my idea worked. Plus the drum was wide. Looking at a power up. I don't think it will remotely work now /emoticons/sad.png
