Putting hose on outside of flat?

I was going to buy this hose. As it's black it would look like some sort of electric cable and run it from my 1st floor kitchen window down and around the corner of flat (about 10 metres in total). Would this hose pass as something electric? I will plug and screw ties to hold the hose to the wall and put two external junction boxes (with hozelock adapters) on the end inside the junction boxes. As I live in 2 storey flats not sure If I want to hang a hose outside kitchen window.

I would have thought that trying to disguise it as electric cable will cause you more bother as any electric cabling must be covered by Part P of the electrical fitting and maintenance regulations @slippy.

What happens to the water waste from the flat. Is there a soil pipe down the outside that you could tuck it behind?

I think you may have to speak to the body corporate/responsible body of the flats and try to come to a compromise regarding water and payment for what you use processing water. It may mean putting your r/o on a self purchased and fitted water meter, or cleaning all the flats windows monthly in exchange for water, etc.

If you don't come clean, then sooner or later the cat will get let out of the proverbial bag and the sky will fall in on you.

I am not going to use an RO- going to use a twin DI. So shouldn't take too long to fill. I am not on the meter. Do you think I should just throw a hose out of window at night and fill my barrels (should take 30 mins.) No one in my block will care. Rather than do this pinning the hose to wall with two junction boxes?

There is a communal tap for people to clean their cars. The communal tap is in full sight to all the flats (and busy body guy)however my window is hidden from everyone unless they're walking passed and busy body never does. No one who lives in my block will care if I hang a hose out of window, but in another block up the hill round corner is the busy body who might get on my case. So I just wanted to keep it hidden from him. If I did it at night there's no reason why anyone should be bothered I would have thought.

I just thought having black hose tied to wall drilled in is more convenient than dangling out of window and over window below.(Not that they'd care.)

I was planning on wheeling the twin DI on a sack trolley which might get the busy bodys attention maybe.

Shall just throw a hose out of window and see how it goes first?

When people see something different their attention is drawn to it.

Unless you have a parking space under your window, having your vehicle parked in an odd place filling up is bound to raise suspicions. Gossip always exaggerates the situation.

If none of the blocks of flats are on a meter then you could quickly fill the van at the communal tap with tap water. Then double di while cleaning.

The way I see it is that someone will catch you sooner or later. Then you will have a problem. I would try to negotiate a solution before an issue arises. But that's me.

I would also have a plan B. Do your council issue water meters so you can fill up at water points in the street?

I have asked the other people in my block of 5 flats and no one cares if I use a hose. Although they didn't know I meant use it to fill my barrels. A guy in my block runs a 45 metre electric cable to garage sometimes on a Saturday. And busy body didn't even know that. I could park my car 10-15 metres of hose away from kitchen tap. It's pitch black at night out there (near my window and where car would be parked) and if someone did come in evening (after 10 maybe 1 person an hour). I could disconnect part of hose which runs over road to make sure they don't trip. I think if someone trips on hose there could be a problem mind!

The communal tap is lit up with sensor lights and everyone (all 25 flats) looks down onto that area. My kitchen is looked onto by no one. They would only see something if they walked passed. And then probably just hose running over road as it's so dark.

It's just this busy body old guy who lives on the same compound. He's old with no life and sticks his nose into everyone's business. (He has been ill lately, and I hate to say it but if he dies, I don't see any problem anymore.) He keeps telling me he's a director of the compound of flats which means he is in charge of running the blocks. No other 'directors' could care less. Like guy opposite me.

Should I just get an x hose in kitchen (dark coloured) then sling it out of window and hook up to other hose connected to DIs on trolley and this then goes into barrels in car? Get a dark hose so it doesn't stand out and be in car when filling up ready so pull up part of hose which runs over road if someone walks past?

Like busy body said if you don't bother anyone then there isn't a problem.

My business will be very affected by this working out!

What's you tap TDS? If it's high then Resin is going to cost you a small fortune. Is there a local supplier of pure you could buy from?

Might be worth considering if there is.

You could hide the hose in conduit?

spruce is right though. You'll have to deal with the problem if you really want to make your business work.

Be stressful trying to conceal / pretend

Just be straight

Tell the old boy if he wants to see out the rest of his few days left on this planet - mind his own business

The top left window (next to white PVC porch thingee is my 1st floor kitchen window (next to sink).

In the bottom photo the car you can see is roughly where I would park and fill up. At night it's pitch black and rarely anyone walking past, just the people who are cool and live in the block. In 30 mins at 10pm it's 50% chance no one will walk past.

I think asking the busy body who is unlikely to see it, is asking for trouble to be honest. I have just moved in and he is likely to be cautious and say no that's not allowed. Then I have totally had it! Sometimes not asking is better. Why risk it! He is generally considered and interfering old fool. Worst case scenario someone from my flat trips on hose when they're walking up the road and where hose crosses road to my car and complains to him. Otherwise the people walking up the road at night I get on with and wouldn't care. If I am sitting in my car at night and looking out for any of the few people who walk up, then disconnecting part of hose which crosses the road and is a trip hazard surely there's no problem?

I will have to wheel my sack trolley with triple/double DI (11 litre).Which may get busy bodys interest, but he probably wont even see that. An RO isn't practical with this set up!

Also, I am part time and this would only be 1 or 2 days/ nights a week.

Somewhere on the grounds shud be a main were u cud add a outdoor tap. Find the guy who oes maintencev and drop him a ton to look be cool with it

There's no way you can run a hose along the floor, in the dark. Asking for trouble.

I might go opposite way. Throw hi viz hose out the window or use common tap, noisily connect everything up, signage, hi viz jacket, lean on car whistling with newspaper in the day light, help granny with her shopping, say good morning to everyone, have a joke ready, etc. make them feel bad about reporting you

So shall I forget the junction box idea on walls? Just throw out a hose (don't let it hang over window below. No one walks below the windows anyway. And just worry about where it crosses road. Like the comment above shall I use my yellow hose over the road to car and even wear Hi Viz or buy one of things in the above photo to stop people tripping over it, whatever there called! And jump out of car on the rare occasion when someone walks past. I think the hose hanging out of window isn't an issue in the dark. Maybe the on issue is the trip hazard I guess!

Just plug in to the communal tap if it's communal your entitled to use it. Is there a sign on it saying car washing only or only to be used for. Don't see what the problem is. If I was below you and I had a pipe hanging in front of my window or tripped over a hose in the dark then there would be a problem.

Will use communal tap as well, but to be honest the parking spaces there aren't always free so I need this other option. Does this sound like the best plan? And shall I forget the whole junction box, hose pipe attached to wall posing as electric cable idea?

If I have to use kitchen sink then will put some things on brickwork (to hold hose to side of window) so it doesn't hang over window below and when I have hose coming over the road I will be there watching barrels fill in car and what few people walk up street I will run out and disconnect hose and be friendly. Will use the yellow hose so it's can be seen.

Use an Xhose (from kitchen, so easy to keep in bucket under sink, then this connected to another hose which will run over the road. Sound like the best option?

That is a good idea as a back up plan. I guess call the council and ask if there are places where you can just fill plug a hose in and fill up.
