My canvassing blog!

Trad will come in handy. My pump packed in on my van mount today so I used the trolley but that run out of battery so I went home lol.

I could have trad it but couldn't be arsed and I also ran out of payment slips, got turned away because of building work had another moan it was raining. Had a complaint that I had to go back to only to find it was the inside. All in all an epic fail of a day.

So I added up round and it's at just under 2300, this round was originally over 4 weeks but due to my slow newby trad speed I'm gonna split it over a 5 week cycle.

Reckon this will enable me to build up sparse areas better, and build speed up as the round grows not the other way around.

Have dropped a couple of houses and will probs lose one or two more soon, but there's always work coming in and I'm gona chap as I clean this next week again.. Give myself time to put up leaflets in shops and stuff like that too.

Brilliant mate really happy for you glad it's doing well, I went out couple days ago and picked up my first four customers hoping to get out most of next week.

Bloody hell mate, you only joined a few weeks ago haha. Great effort.

Chris, i have just sat and read this whole thread from start to finish and im seriously impressed !! .... Well done mate. your blog is the definition of the well known saying "you get out what you put in" awesome mate, keep up the great work ethic and you will soon be where you want to be.

It did, but it was worth the time, im sure i learned a lot that i can take forward and implement when my time comes to start my "advertising campaign" , so thank you for that and once again, well done.

Well we'll need meet up for a chat bud, your probably only 20 miles from me.

Canvassing!! Typed up letters today stating who I am, what I do etc,and have stapled flier to each. These are going through the doors of that sold property list I mentioned, well going to the ones whom do not answer the door anyway.

This sold list is pretty big actually, got my four biggest town areas and printed off the list of sold property within last 3 months.

So this was a quiet day cleaning ,and so I done the necessary chapping around the houses I were doing.

Resulted in picking up five new flats in a two street area (six if the old biddy cancels her unreliable cleaner she spoke of). I knew there was work here as a fb customer came to me some weeks ago wanting me to clean two of their neighbours houses, along with their own obviously.

Some leaflet dropping on a very dirty high street (round corner from these flats), resulted in one call so far and a new customer from that call.

The day started with an en route to other work cash collection at 9am, so I chapped the area and got the first house I chapped.. No one was in at any other houses in the street, but I've dropped leaflets anyway.

Finally got another fb pm there, a house in my home town (says he'd emailed me via website but I didn't get it) plus a gutter job. Really starting to promote these gutter cleans and facia cleans, used the back pack for a facia clean last week and have one due soon.

Will try sign them up for these extra things, one year again from now etc.

Awsome work Chris.

I like the letter idea with the recently sold houses. I think I'm going to do that and put in the letter that I used to clean the windows at this property and the price was blah blah if you would like me to continue please contact me. Post them when I'm out and about and if they prove to be successfull maybe just print off a shed load and stamp them up.

What if the sold sign is still but they haven't moved out yet? Might be a tad embarrassing?

If ya check the sold list online but only write out to houses sold within last two to four months ago should be good to go Adam, within that time scale new owner is likely in me thinks

And the majority won't have sorted new windy yet in that short time scale...chap yer local ones and write to further out ones, that's my plan anyway.

Also can change settings online and search for property by value rather than recently sold. So if expensive property shows up (and happens to be recently sold).. Onto a potential winner

I think it would work well for the larger properties that have locked electric gates that are difficult to canvass.

It's just targeted leafletting really but rather than post 1000 leaflets to random hpuses and maybe get 2-4 calls you are posting to houses that have a much higher chance of wanting your services.

Anyway enough chat I'm going to get some ink after work today and get 100 letters printed out. Start local and work my way out.

Will see what happens nothing ventured and all that

So today, had one walk up and another house where I actually cleaned the wrong windows!! They said your doing a good job son, come do ours every month haha..

Got another via fb there just now,so three today. Rounds probably approaching 2400 I think, but like I said I'm gona span this over a five week cycle.

Van signage ordered and I'm gona keep at this chapping houses when I'm cleaning, it's pretty productive so far.

Will send off twenty or thirty letters a week to recently sold houses, or chap them if they are local. Issue is,my rounds over several towns so ain't always easy to chap depending on where I am that week (but chapping is by far my best method)

Got some fliers in shop windows this week, and gona keep expanding that idea too.

Just doing my letters now...

not sure whether to put that i was the previous window cleaner

or

"I clean other propertys in your street and had noticed your property recently changed hands blah blah"

Don't think it'll matter,if they want a windy they'll phone mate. Don't over think it.

Mines just state that I do work in this local area and further afield (incase they know of others looking for a windy)

Then I've attached a flier, which has specific service info and link to fb business page on it etc
