Picked up a realy nice little job today. Posh local development, builders have had there own guy travelling to clean every week. Unfortunately for him he's broken his foot. So now I have ten final cleans and four builders cleans to do tomorrow. All external only. I have only done a few builders cleans before all Trad. Thinking of whipping the ladders off for the four, as probably be quicker. What do you guys think. Can you remove stickers and residue with ubick and pole?

When I done those 2 houses that I keep on about, I got there at 6 am before anyone else and done em off of the ladder. Then went on to my normal work!

Sod the builders cleans

I do insides etc but when it comes to builders cleans i have made the mistake of taking them on

About 10 years ago in london i took a few on around cricklewood thinking it would be easy

Good job i said i would charge by the hour as i was on site for 3 days solid to get all these houses done inside and out

Can't remember how many it was but was a lot

I to would never do another builders clean ever

Had a large contract few years ago and was a nightmare

Still stickers on frames and glass, mortar stains all over

Really wasn't worth all the effort

Both.

Mainly try to use WFP but if there's building material or stickers on the window then a bit of trad to get it off - then continue using WFP

It's only the four builders cleans I'm worried about time wise. Others are just a quick wash to remove dust before tenants move in. Got one day a week till they all sold. Six or eight builders cleans and quick shine on unsold properties before the weekends

There's always building materials or stickers on the windows. Nature of a builders clean!

I don't think you will have a problem using a ladder at sensible height

but if there's a cherry picker on sight you can ask to be taken up in it

I did it took ten minutes to get up then I peeled one sticker off

Dint matter though as I just billed after job - no one knew what was going on money wise

Until head office rang me and asked why £400 for days work oops

personally i would give it a miss but if you go ahead get the site manager to sign a damage waver so you are not liable for any scratches or scrapes etc

Run in the opp direction mate, I can't think of a more tedious task than peeling stickers and removing paint off windows allday

I've done 1 took 4x longer then I thought, and that was not that bad, now I avoid them unless it's a current customer who's had work done, and then I charge 5x the normal price

If there was really big money in this then it would be worth it, but all I ever hear on here is that they are awkward, slow paying, and rubbish money. Why anyone would bother is just beyond me.

Builders themselves should be responsible for cleaning all the **** off them, or be more careful in the first place.

I like to start cleaning them once people move in and the builders clean has been done, nice and easy money each time then /emoticons/smile.png
