You will wait forever & a day if you send a email, I sent one 3 weeks ago in regards to spending serious ££ on upgrades, along with a fault with something they supplied still under warranty...

Did I get a reply... Nope, called up a few times since and never get anywhere, normally a young lad answers the phone who can't deal with my enquiries but always says james is busy and will call you back, guess what they never call you back.

This lack of customer service ruins them for me, having spent near on £9k with them in the past 18 months you think they would be keen to have long term business with me, I'm also not the only one who feels like this, only thing I can say mate is keep trying on the phone or just return it if faulty.

Defo faulty mate! I have use there brushes and my first clean brush thats done loads of work dnt look like that! Mshould last u ages

What do they say when you ring up or are they simply not answering the phone?

From my experience I think they need some bad press and others that have had similar experiences to come forward.

I read no end of 5* reviews on there FB page which doesn't match my service, perhaps they just don't like me and you!

I ordered about £700 worth of 25liter trolley, when it came it had marks on it like it had been used or had been a showroom model. I complained and got offered £15 credit which I think I managed to get up to £25, but when looking back was a joke considering I paid that much! All told though...... when I had problem later on with the controller, James new how to fix it straight away.

I doubt I'll use anyone else than Gardiner for most things now.

Got reply from them no offer of a replacement said never had problems like this on there brushes looks as if its been through a hedge trimmer let us know how you get on with it

This is the prime reason I use Gardiners and The Cleaning Warehouse. Let down big time by James and lousy customer service.

He is 20 mins from me and I drive right past all the way to Wolverhampton. Even if I only need squeegee rubber as I believe in supporting suppliers that support us!

This is why gardiners are unbeatable

The day Mr G retires will be a sad day for us all as no doubt some numpties will buy him out and ruin it

Here's a story from just about 5 years back.

I had just set up a small van with an eBay 350 liter setup and a smattering of customers, times were very (and I mean VERY) tight.

We hit a harsh winter, my DIY system froze, killing the pump and also got some cracks in my tank and hose. Also in the snow in slow moving traffic my van decided to spew out it's entire cooling system and that was that, no van, dead system, no work.

A few days later I was in the shop at X-line, having a cuppa and chatting with James (at the time someone I considered a friend due to his behavior towards me). And this was the conversation....

Me: If you hear of anyone looking for staff I could really use the work mate and don't care if it's trad or WFP, you know I actually am fine with both.

James: Well actually we are putting together another van and going to lease it out, we give you £500 per week of work and you pay £150 for the van with the gear etc etc, any new customers you pick up are yours but when you leave we get those customers back, if you want another £500 it cost another £150.

(Well you can imagine how happy I was, I needed work desperately, to a point where it really was the difference between eating or not and here was an offer of not only work, but working for myself, getting a van and system supplied and all the support this was ideal)

Me: Well that sounds perfect mate so if you're offering I'd love that.

James: No problem, van will be ready next week.

Me: Sound.

(At this point I stop looking for work as I have been PROMISED a deal. A week passes and no word, I call James)

Me: Hello mate, it's Darren, just wondering what's happening?

James: Just sorting out the rounds, should only be a few days now.

Me: Cheers.

Another week passes and still no word, I call him up and get 'I'm busy right now, call you back shortly' another day or two passes and now he he simply won't even take my calls.

As I mentioned earlier I was real desperate, I borrowed a ladder and some trad tools and started walking the street just knocking doors and cleaning on the spot. This actually turned out well, built a round quickly and got an old VW Bora with roof rack and I was rolling again.

Six weeks later my phone rang, caller ID says 'James - X-Line' So I take the call.

Me: Hello

James: Who's that?

Me: Darren

James: Oh sorry, miss dialed.

Me: Ok, what happened with that deal you offered me?

Jame: Oh sorry, my dad gave it to an old school pal of his.

Me: OK.

-- That is the last time I ever spoke to James Daykin

Anyhow -- fast forward three years and my books are overflowing and I need to whittle down £1500 of work to help cull, compact and improve. I put an ad on the web to sell some work and get a call from two lads, Dave and Shaun.

I meet up with them at the pub for a chat and show them the books.

Dave asks what I know of X-line and I tell them the story I told you above.

Dave and Shaun look at each other and smile.

Me: Oh you think that's funny? (this has pi**ed me off as they're smiling)

Dave: Not at all, Steve Daykin (James Dad) Pulled EXACTLY the same stunt on us!!

Well Dave and Shaun bought the work and have continued to expand and I do OK for myself so it all worked out in the end.

But the moral of this story is I would not touch X-line with a 60ft pole as they are a bunch of (inert your own derogatory expletive here)

Proceed with caution!
