Who does your site. ?

Start by talking to an actual pro. So many people want to save £10 per mont by DIY and get no leads hence false economy.

I pay £10 per mont and convert at least 4 per week so that's 16 clients per month for a tenner. If each of those was only a £10 job I am still up by £150 each month. Good deal in my book.

TBF GREEN has already told you one issue. Your aiming for Leeds a lot. What about villages and towns. The content is ok but nothing special. Reviews let you down massively as its one. I have about 20-30 genuine reviews and they bring in lot of work.

get yourself listed on www.freeindex.co.uk this is one site that really does bring in online enquiries i get at least 2 from that a week and then theres www.gumtree.co.uk , friday-ad and freeads all play their part in creating a healthy online presence . scoot is another one and theres others , gransnet ,streetlife both of them work for me and of course facebook thats a goldmine -- you need to be posting bits about you regular and often and you sometimes never get a bite but then suddenly you will

As boarcity suggest use freeindex etc. Having a website is only part of the bigger picture. You need to get your site listed on other sites ensure your Google business page is setup well and get reviews via Google as well. Use social media.

Think of it as an onion. Your website being the centre all the other elements such as social media etc which are the outer layers. All of which should compliment and direct to your site etc. It's a constant work in progress. It's never just a throw a site up and they will come. They won't come if they don't know it's there.

Halton what keywords are you targetting ?

Mines on first page for wakefield but gets very little enquiries. But then there's just not that many searches on Google for wakefield.

Leeds is where it's at if you want traffic but much harder to rank for leeds.

I'm overhauling all my sites end of this year and will be letting a pro do it.

It's possible to do yourself I've ranked a few sites for different keywords now but Seo to really work need ls to be ongoing with reviews blogs backlinks updates etc and I just can't be arsed anymore so will hand it over and pay someone to manage them

home page keywords are

Window Cleaning Leeds,Window Cleaners Leeds, commercial window cleaners,Domestic window cleaners

home page keywords areWindow Cleaning Leeds,Window Cleaners Leeds, commercial window cleaners,Domestic window cleaners
what about the other pages keywords?

you are better off targetting one keyword per page, however something generic like commercial window cleaners wont cut it

make it commercial window cleaner leeds|window cleaning leeds

drop domestic window cleaner, who searches for that? bet any money its not a high traffic search term, research search traffic to your site.

Google analytics - vital you learn how to use this to see where youre traffic is coming from

You ll struggle to rank window cleaning leeds without a lot of seo work, by all means use it but if youre doing it yourself youll find it easier to rank towns.

Use google maps to rank your home town, and have different pages for each town you want to target, you can add these pages as blog posts or seperate pages.

You can get penalized for keyword stuffing and the keywords need to read properly not just be thrown in randomly.

Theres so many things google keep changing with its algorithms that are used to determine rankings, the weight of say social media or blogs or backlinks etc keeps changing so to be honest unless you have loads of time on your hands and really want to learn i would just pay someone else.

Basics you can do, titles, urls, meta tags, backlinks, keywords, google business, blogs, social media, directories, reviews, analytics, check your sitemap is submitted, that will get you going

be very careful if you pay someone . iv never done that [paying for search help] but i know several windies who av paid for a website/search engine help but then theyv had jacksh/t results after a short while becos the person theyre paying cant be bothered to do their job properly, but STILL wants paying every month. because this person holds the passwords youre really stuck. ideally you want a local person who you can go and see/duff up if theres a problem, not some oik who is miles away coining it in .

i also know a windie firm near me who was nearly pulled under after goin with Yell for his online presence. they are incredibly expensive with hidden charges-probably the highest of the lot.

iv been with vistaprint for my website[www.jonnywindows.co.uk ] years now after being put on to them by fellow windie steve www.steveswindowcleaners.vpweb.co.uk , given me very excellent result at budget cost too and prices rarely rise with them and i notice they too now do search engine help. the good thing about vistaprint is that its YOU that holds the passwords so you can change stuff /cancel stuff at will. this must really grate with the rivals who do online stuff at a flippin high price and often do feck all work for the money

Very important you register the domain name yourself.

Ideally you would have all the admin passwords and cms logins etc plus back ups. If that company folds snd you don't have everything youve lost the lot.

@HALTON I had a couple in mind online but I've not decided yet.

I think I'm going to speak in person to a couple of local companies to give them my requirements. I want them to manage all my updates and ongoing seo or at least give me the tools to do so easily I.e a CMS

Having said that I'm going to be getting a separate site for carpet cleaning so that's going to take a lot more work than a window one. I might redo my window one myself as I should be able to rank wakefield ok as there's not that much competition. However for keywords such as gutter clean leeds I've found it difficult but I got conservatory cleaning leeds in the top 3. The reason is obvious when you look at the search traffic for those terms..gutters lots of traffic connys less so so easier to rank.

You should do a competitor and keyword analysis before you decide anything. There's no point paying a pro if your keywords have next to no competition. But I can tell you now you will struggle with leeds so speak to someone imo

One thing to be wary of with vistaprint is they hold your domain registration and are notoriously difficult to get it transfered. So if you ever want to switch hosts you will lose your domain name
