My parents have just taken on a new window cleaner....they were surprised when he done the first clean at their agreed weekly rate....my mum asked him why he didn't charge a first clean rate and he told her that he found he got more customers and kept them when doing first cleans at the normal rate.....fires anyone else on the forum charge normal rate for first cleans.

If the windows are pretty clean then ill lower it to 1.5x, or if uts a friend theyll get it at the lower rate, used to charge same and found it the other way round, more messers when no premium

No I don't. I charge depending on how long I think it will take, then I price them on on-going maintenace cleans.

I'm a big believer in first clean charge, and for a while was charging x3 the normal price for anything that hadn't been cleaned in over 6 months.

I think there should definitely be some extra charge if they haven't been done for over 6 weeks. But each to their own I guess.

First cleans usually requires scraping bird droppings and learning access and whatnot, so it takes longer and thus cost more.

I do first cleans exclusively with an hourly rate, and give a discount on regular cleans based so that afterwards. This way, if the job turns out to take a lot of time, or if the customer turns not to be a regular, I don't loose money on the job.
