Gravity feed diy di vessel using a co'op 2 litre cola bottle, some hard foam, a lint free rag and some sponge. It has 1 litre of resin in it and 4 months later after putting a fair bit (1000's of litres) of rainwater through it the ppm is still at zero and I'm still using it. I will get around to building a better looking one from drainpipe or similar but for now until ppm goes up I'm fine with this thankyou.

I did say it wasn't pretty!!!! But it works, I'll get bits together and build it properly another day. Got 100 litres out of it so far though .

Like it, but I'm sure I suggested the idea months back! (albeit I stole it from another chap)

It would be able paul but i imagine the only problem would be getting the water to pass through the larger surface area . I reckon dodgers size is just right and you wont get areas of wasted resin not being used to filter the water .

I wonder if it could be done on a bigger scale hmmm
Just so happens thats what I'm actually doing. I'll work out how much drainpipe or similar I'll need to hold about 10 litres of resin plus the other bits. Theres absolutely no problem with distribution as it soaks the sponge first and drains through evenly doesn't shoot straight through in a narrow channel through the middle. Personally I reckon the distributions actually better with this.
Have to agree with Gav there though, no wider than downpipe as it might not distribute properly otherwise.

Yeah probably would and I've heard of it being done but I've also heard that the deionised water attracts dirt so cleans frames up better. May be a myth but who knows lol.

Also would it be worth cleaning your roof or harvesting at someone elses house cos thats where your mucks coming from mate.

Roof and gutter have to be really clean.

Mucky rain in Ireland then, must be all the guiness.

I have to just say that all mines filtered through sponge or a lint free cloth first by the way, that may be why mines so low, haven't tested it before filtering lol.

Thought I'd add to this cos can't find my old thread about sprayers.

As I mentioned before I'm looking at pressure sprayers to wfp instead of battery backpack and I am definitely gonna order the Chapin 90psi model after todays tests.

Made my first pure water this week as I've already said so I set about finishing my test equipment to see if it was actually workable. I went into JTF wholesale this morning and bought a 7 Litre fence sprayer, took of the lance and put a hozelock tap on instead. Filled it, pumped it (admitted this **** cheapo needed 20 pumps) and did 3 large upstairs windows and frames with it. I'd almost finished before it lost too much pressure and only gave it another 10 pumps to finish. I might add 2 were bad as they were new customers other I did last month trad so was spotless, washed, rinsed and no spotting. Only fault is the hose I'm using, curly one round pole. Don't like it around pole at all so ill be looking at getting some 8mm to put through the old harris.

Forgot to say the sprayer cost a whopping 7 quid lol.

Your right into this enviroment friendly idea dodger!! Have you thought about what your car is doing to the atmosphere! I think your should get a wheelbarrow and roller skates
