Hi guys.
I haven't been on here much since my dad's accident back on Father's Day.
After spending three and a half weeks in hospital in Spain, he was transferred to my local hospital by air ambulance about three weeks ago.
Medically speaking, he's not doing too badly. He's now breathing for himself, is no longer being tube fed and is free from all the other **** that seems to come with being in hospital for a long period of time (pneumonia, MRSA, infections, etc).
When I last posted we still weren't clear on what caused his motorbike to crash but we now know that he was having a bleed on his brain. That bleed caused him to black out whilst riding. The impact of the crash caused what's called a traumatic arachnoid haemorrhage (a brain haemorrhage).
Unfortunately, his right arm and leg remain paralysed and he is suffering the effects of the brain injury. Im expecting him to be in hospital for at least another three weeks while his broken arm heals and he starts eating properly and building his strength up. After that he will go to a neurological rehabilitation centre for at least six weeks.
I'm currently working part time on the windows (not that I was full time before[emoji23]) and spending the rest of my time at the hospital, looking after my mum, dealing with my dad's affairs etc.
Anyway, it's good to be back.
Neil.
