Boss works hard to build a round pays u 80. A day in ur hand and u think u shud go start a business for ur self to Earn 1300 amonth lol. U won't even be getting wat u get now

This is the problem with employees and that is what you are

You see the money rollin in and think. I shud be paid more ... No u don't.

The boss earns that much cause he built the business himself. Why don't u mossey on down to the bank ask for a loan go out by ur self

I work from 8 to 6 everyday sometimes saturday I work on my own when he is tired or have holidays . I sort all the water . I fill up the water and the rags I clean the van and help him with paperwork . I am basically running the bussines for 80 quid a day with no holiday pay and lunch is 30 min max if we get lunch . but thank you all for responding I didn't expected to get that many responses cheers

I'm assuming that is tax free then as no holiday pay means no employment

You can't be subcontracting for the same firm for more than 12 weeks as then you become an employee in the eyes of mr hmrc and then would be entitled to holiday pay and pension etc

So you can play the system and get paid a not bad wage and then moan that it is not good enough while we all pay our tax and have the grief of running a business

If you go out for yourself you will need to declare it or when they catch up with you you can have jeffrey archer's old cell:laugh:

If i got it wrong and you are properly employed then you need to have the conversation about holiday pay and pension etc

Wouldn't get a business loan personally, but realise 8 to 6pm is a long day and doesn't give much time to canvass etc..unlikely he's going to pay a vast amount more,so stick with what is or build your own I'd say.

Well strong here mate . I just ask what people think he is a good boos and all but I don't know how much other window cleaners pay for there employees and ofcourse I would love to open my own bussines like most of you here . and as employe I am for him he probably won't find someone like me . I work my socks of even on my own I can turn him 400 pounds a day I will work late . weekends and sort his water amd paperwork just to help him around and I don't think 80 quid is a lot because I don't know how long you been doing this job but everywhere simple labour is nearly the same

reading between the lines you are a casual worker, which to be fair to most on here will probably annoy people including me that pay tax, NI, pension contributions etc meanwhile you sit and cry because your £400 a week cash job isn't working in your favour? just to let you know, £400 a week is £20,847.32 clear per calendar year (my account package tells me gross, net etc)

so if you want a raise, id go for around £100 or just do what you have been...or go out on your own, you'll only fiddle your own accounts anyway

100% agree @DMD except i have no pension as my business working for me will be my pension and being mortgage free in 8 years will help

£400 a week is the same as 55 hours on £7.20. That's not far off the mark of what you say is your day of 8 till 6 and working a Saturday morning.

If you were paying tax and N.I you would be on approx £333 a week.

I'm not having a pop at you here but trust me, there are a LOT worse jobs you can do for £7.20 an hour.

Interesting thread. I certainly don't agree with people not paying taxes etc and I also think that people don't always think about what the boss does behind the scenes. Saying that, I'd be pretty disheartened and looking at other options if I was earning £7.20 an hour.

Your on £80 a day 400 a week was someone else's comment and personally £8 an hour in your hand (9 an hour on books if we are looking at it that way as I am sure you would have said if you were paying tax by now if you were) is not that bad.

If I was in your bosses shoes by what you have said you do I woul be happy with maybe an extra quid or 2 but I honestly don't know what his overheads are (I of course no mine but to get to those numbers he may be advertising on yell, checkatrade and Google add words for all I know)

Thing with employment is that you know you have a steady 80 day comming in, he has hassle of collecting this money after weighing you out.

My main but if advise for anybody is do not start a business with debt, something like 70% of businesses fail in the first year wether this is bad management or management realising being "the boss" isn't all it is cracked up to be, the debt will still be in your name.

Fair do but you have to weigh up the pros and cons. Working for one boss or working in a factory with a load of line managers who think that they are gods. Not many jobs would be employing someone on 55 hours a week so there's the loss of pay that you are used to.

Personally I worked in a place full of women on a 12 hour shift (3 days a week - 36 hours) and the bitching was crazy. A stroppy customer is comedy gold in comparison now. /emoticons/smile.png

But hey, each to their own. Go with your gut feeling.

I totally agree. I used to work forty hours a week in a warehouse, surrounded by dickheads, for not much more than minimum wage.

The point I was trying to make (probably not very clearly:sad was that if this guy is genuinely doing as much in running the business for his boss as he says he is, I can understand him having aspirations to do the same for himself.

If what he's saying is true, it does sound as though he is maybe being taken advantage of a bit and sounds like he's in a position where he may be able to negotiate a pay rise.

reliable gd grafter does all the things you say.My first priorty would be to keep this guy he is your main asset in your business

I think you're talking BS mate. Simple as that.

I think perhaps you may bring in around £300 on a busy day but you're just trying to big yourself up.

Move up to Nottingham mate.

Do a consistant £600 daily and i'll pay you £150 per day after tax and NI and full holiday pay as well.
