Gardiner's Q-Loq Gooseneck Valve

I might try one of these, was a little unsure at first but watched the video again and can see the speed on 90% of my customers windows

it looks beta than the old aquatap but im not convinced its beta than the univalve i mite order one just to c £20 ant out the way

Used mine for the first time this morning. Even with a swivel on the pole it still didn't slow me down. If it lasts it'll be serious competition for Exceed's Univalve I recon. Haven't used it long enough to say if I prefer it yet.

Keep us updated Mark, also can you still use the gardeners scrapper attachment within as I use my scrapper a fair bit.

I don't use any kind of scraper attached to my pole so can't comment on that. Don't find I need one to be honest. Used to think I did but most often bird muck just comes of with a soak, a scrub and a little patience. I do have a Q-Loq attachment in my kit I can attach a scraper to if I really need to, but I hardly ever use it.

Re the gooseneck valve, early indications are that I'm going to really like it. I'm able to rinse on the glass a lot and being able to turn the water on and off whilst both hands are on the pole and you are on the move seems to be an advantage.

What brush are you using now Mark, as I thought the flock were not that good for rinsing on.

Hi mark. How you getting on with that device on the swivel. Does it not turn on or off if you have to reach at an angle above a conny or extension roof? It would be good if it was controllable in those situations.

Also what happens if you use your pole sideways in a tight spot?

You can rinse on the glass with a flocked brush but only if you are doing easy maintenance cleans. If the brush starts to pick up a lot of muck then I find I have to rinse off the glass or switch to the Medium soft mono as the bristles don't pick up so much muck.

Rinsing on means you don't need to take the brush off the glass. You rinse down with brush on window. Very good for heavy poles and high work.

Some brush heads are more suitable than others for this type of rinsing.

It definitely works better without the swivel as Alex said in another post somewhere. But I love the swivel so if I couldn't use it with the swivel that would hve been the end of it for me. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how well it did work. It does take some getting used to, but it didn't slow me down today.

At ground level you can turn it on and off by hand if need be, but at height the trick is to steady the brush whilst twisting the pole. I thought, that as the twisting action is also what you do to alter the angle of the brush that it would be near impossible to get it to work both the brush and the tap, but not so.

If you like your swivel loose then the normal tap action is fine. However, if you prefer a stiffer swivel action then you might need to tight the tap tension slightly (and I do mean slightly) or you will find you are turning the tap on and off as well as adjusting your brush angle. But it didn't cause me a serious problem today. I did pretty much the same amount of work as I usually do.

I did find that with the swivel on, it's best to steady the brush in the lower right corner of the window or ledge while turning the tap on, not the top left as shown on the demo video without the swivel.

As for over conny roofs or extensions, that I've not yet tried but I don't think it will present too much of a problem.

Watch this space...

I have ordered one of these together with a new pole. I know I will love this as I only use the AquaTap anyway. Happy days /emoticons/biggrin.png

You can also lock it on/off

You could go really crazy and fit a Univalve and a Gooseneck valve. If the Gooseneck proves awkward in a given situation you could lock it open and use the Univalve instead. I'm sure someone will try it.

can't get the gooseneck to work, the water just isnt getting through ther valve, i've tried twisting and turning to no success.

Try disconnecting the valve from the pole hose and blowing through the end of the valve when its twisted one way. you should be able to blow through when its twisted open. Im thinking you arent opening the valve when twisting on the pole maybe.
