View attachment 8624 We all get cancellations here and there but does anyone ask why?

Part of me wants to know why but then the other part doesn't.

Had one cancel last week and above is the screen shot.

By the tone of the message and the content I assumed either unhappy with the service or maybe undercut.

As it turns out the house is for sale. I don't know why they couldn't just say that in the email!

If they won't say why , I don't really care . But I always let them know that they're more than welcome to call again if they need work done .

I'm not sure they've cancelled because the house is for sale - if you're house is for sale you generally want to keep it looking good for prospective buyers; and why not just let the new owners inherit the windy anyway? Sounds to me like they're just a bit ignorant (or you've pee-d them off in some way).

Some people have money issues, some convince themselves they don't need a window cleaner and others only use your services because their friend does and so, wanting to fit in, they use you too. These customers soon reveal that they are time wasters.

I had this a couple weeks back. A woman who hired me to do the windows through her friend (think soccer mums' with little kids), texted me to say that the windows were all streaky and 'was I having an off day?' after I had been. I phoned her and the husband apparently did his nut and said don't pay me. So I went round to have a look and the glass was fine, no smears or streaks. As usual, I cleaned all the upvc frames and the front door immacualtly - as I do with all customers as standard. I think I did her about 4 times on a six weekly in total before this BS

What do you do with these customers? Delete their details and get more who appreciate your work! Simple

i had a call the other week saying her fraims and sills were black but i clean them using hot wfp i even dry scrim the bottom sills so in no way were they black and the strange thing is she payed me that day and was happy i got the call 3 weeks later lol:confused: she said well we will c how the next few cleans go i said there and then i think u need to find a new wc she agreed and slamd the fone down the house was huge £23 so was cheep but she still tryed to get it to £20 she even asked if i included the conny roof:eek: she has a 40k mobolie caravan with a romote controle to drive it lol 2 audi's on the drive as well:rolleyes:

The house is actually sold, but I don't know the stage of the contracts.

I am not fussed. I can do with loosing some work TBH. Shame. Easy £10 /emoticons/smile.png

It's hard not to take a cancellation personally I sometimes ask if I know full well I've provided a good service and they say all kind of reasons "o I'm going on holiday" some people are honest and say I just don't want a window cleaner

My best customers are people on low income they're allways home allways good payers council house renting folk, the worst are people with they're new merc scoffing at me asking for a tenner they just don't value our time that's what it comes down to.

They tend to appreciate hard work because they have to work hard themselves, where the well off tend to have a superiority complex.

I am busier than ever these last 2 months and it hasn't slowed down yet

I gained 60 quid in 4 new 2 monthly customers on thursday alone and that is work that has found me

That is regular not first clean price

I've not lost a customer in ages but have binned off about 10 in the last 2 weeks as i felt it was time for a cull

I've had a few now, sometimes they have been that blunt mate and when I've asked for feedback its been too dear/doing it themselves from now on, normal stuff like that.

Best not to think about it if they won't be forthcoming I now think though :)

It is nice to get offered feedback though, especially in these early days cos how are we to always know if its satisfactory to the customers.

I had one the other day, they had been due to pay me for last clean, so when they got hit for a double payment £40, maybe didnt go down that well. I asked why, was it quality of work, got back a "absolutely not", she had bought husband karcher window vac. Just said to her to call me if needed me.

New customers have dried up a bit over the last few weeks oddly.
Speaking as a canvasser - the last month or so has been tough. Not sure why but I think it's a combination of good weather and end of school holidays. Good weather means the windows aren't showing the dirt and end of school holidays means spent out over summer and expenses in kitting out the kiddies.

At least, that's what I'm hoping is the reason. (Otherwise, I'm f*cked!).

Plus Christmas is coming and people are starting to spend for this
