TDS around here fluctuates between about 95 and 110.....I have Ro and Di but getting a lot of waste considering I'm on a meter......how many litres would I be able to make just using Di's between changing resin....currently using a 1000 litres to get about 450 litres....1000 litres on a meter round here is £2.92.

Hello mate, I'm Di and have soft water about 80ppm out the tap although will soon be upgrading to a RO set up from grippa tank to hopefully save money on resin, but looking a that price might not be worth it so might stick to DI

Here's a resin calculator
Resin Calculator

You will be better off with resin use if you use twin di
A 25kg bag should last about 14 days using 450l of pure per day water 110ppm @J and S . At £80 a bag that will cost you £5.72 per day. Cheaper to run the r/o IMHO.

If you have a 7 liter di vessel you will be changing the resin every 3/4 days. That would drive me crazy to begin with. Any di bigger than that is very difficult to change resin as its heavy, cumbersome and awkward.

Thanks spruce, yeah I'm fed up of changing resin heavy and cumbersome for sure.

25 litre bag will do 6000 litres @ £72 per bag.

With the ro approx 13000 litres to make 6000 litres @ 2.92 per 1000 = £38 so will stick with ro.

Hi everyone I am using a double resin vessel system with no Ro filter just straight out of the tap and my system has been fine at 1 ppm and then yesterday it shot up to 14 ppm and has started spotting, but my resin is only a month and half old can anyone help please I have only just set up my business. And sorry for commenting on someone else's thread.

What's your tds

Then, how much water do you use a day? Then put the figures into the resin calculator to see how long a 25kg bag of resin will hopefully last you.

If you used ro and it was inefficient and kicked product water out at 10ppm you would still get 33 weeks from a bag of resin which added to the cost of metered water would still be cheaper

I wouldn't worry about the cost much anyway as you will still make good profit

Before i went ro i used to buy my water at 4p a litre Which would be £18 for 450l but i would still have earned a good wedge for the outlay

Price up any new jobs 50p or a quid more than you usually would and in effect the customer is paying for your water
