Best cleaning liquid ?

WCF

Help Support WCF:

We've been using the unger liquid since starting and to be fair I thought it was all right, mixing 50ml to 10 litres of water and it seems to lather up quite well. Not tried washing up liquid so can't compare.

I have to agree iKlear is the best. I use it for all my electronics. They give you plenty of spare cloths, a nice big cloth and several travel wipes.
Why do some people even bother, are they just naturally idiots or have to work at it?

I've no intention of telling anybody what they should or shouldn't use, each to their own, but you should know that there is a big difference between washing up liquid and proper window cleaning detergent. Washing up liquid will foam up if you want it to and it will clean windows, but it is designed to leave a shiny coating on the glass which looks good to start with but acts like fly paper to dirt particles. Window cleaning detergent is usually designed not to foam very much so as to reduce the chance of leaving marks on the glass, they also contain wetting agents to slow down evaporation, and slipping agents to protect the squeegy rubber.

Frankly the cost of either for a years cleaning is pretty small.

Personally I use GG4 mostly, ungers in emergency, but I think it was better in years past than it is these days. If I need foaming, when doing the inside of a car showroom on a wet day for instance, I use ungers gel.

I've seen many many comments on this mate from extremely experienced trad windies, ecover (not fairy) is as good if not better than Unger & GG3/4. Lots and lots of these people changed to ecover because it's better not because it's cheaper. It maybe is only beaten by the slower evaporation but then I don't leave it on the glass long enough to be bothered by that.

I've not tried ecover, to be honest I don't monitor the trad side of forums these days so it's easy to lose touch with new trends, but I do have an open mind to new ideas.

What I have found to be true of many window cleaners regardless of trad or wfp is that they would split a halfpenny. /emoticons/biggrin.png
