So something blew at start of day today in van had no power.. turned out just a blade fuse but had to use backpack all day. what a nightmare arms are dropping off constantly filling up etc. makes me wonder how I managed when set up couple year ago...

My honest advice to anyone starting out and I wish I had listened to guys on here and a friend if mine is go for van mount straight away uf can.. fealt like heaven when started using van mount again late in day...

Knackered

I dont have a complete van mount atm but there is a 350L tank with pure in the back of my van and my backpack is mounted on a trolley and a massive hose reel on it. So for most of the jobs I just leave my backpack outside my van and fill it up in 20 seconds when needed.

Saves time and energy alright! /emoticons/smile.png

I feel this way whenever I have to use the trolley I feel like beating it to death. how I used that thing all day long humping barrels about i do not know.

Fortunately my work is well suited to a trolley. If I ever bought a van, I'd probably fit it with a 250-300ltr tank like Stormin Norman and fill my trolley from the tank.

I've never had a problem lifting barrels of water onto my trolley. I've actually had a bigger problem with the trolley itself due to it's weight. So I worked on it to address this issue and succeeded in halving it's weight (I've explained how in other threads). I can now lift it in and out of my car with one hand and I love working with it.

Wfp turns you soft lol

I used to carry 12 rung triple ladders on my shoulder all day and that isn't light..plus bucket and trad tools in other hand

Now i whinge about my backpack so attatched 100m of hose and reel to it

In reality it will keep you in shape lifting 25k drums about

same here was on a 35l trolley for a few years was hard work goin upstairs and down fully loaded invested in van mount so easy and quick

Can't understand how van mount is beneficial on most residential? As to arms dropping off mine don't go to the Gym I used to carry ladders all day that's what you call hard we'll be having Windys come on here soon wanting Robots so they can sit in the van all day staring at Smart fones man up.

I used a trolley for over 4 years and was glad to get rid of it and move onto a truck mount , I typically won't take on any work in terraced streets or any where that their would be parking issues or hose management issues I like things easy .

25kg drums only resulted in causing me back trouble it was just to much hassle .

Then you just fill from a tank I am still using 25 litre barrels but I only fill with 15 litres of water I'm getting a bigger van in the Spring trying to get as much money as I can together, I'm currently working with a Citroen Berlingo but after a Dispatch I will get a tank fitted but will fill Backpacks don't want hassle of van mount, hose reeling, snagging, constantly moving the van and dragging hose around no thanks.

Hi mateYeah nice thanks only use on first cleans or when really cold but nice thing.. you??

Cheers
Good to hear buddy!

Personally I started using the hot water on all cleans , guess I'm a bit addicted to it by now. I've noticed that if you turn up your controller , then you have to turn up the water from minimum just a bit . Or else it will turn off.

A great new tool /emoticons/biggrin.png:D

Cheers!

If you are getting a tank fitted then what is the point of using a backpack , Their is a some bewilderment when it comes to a full van mount with 100m of hose , The hose snagging is very rare and as for constantly moving your vehicle that is also false it is far more of an issue with a trolley or backpack running out of water and having to constantly to and fro filling up .

Over the years I have refined my round and in the course of a day a hardly move my truck and can easily work 1-2 hours or more without moving my truck once and the hose is easily managed its just a case are knowing what works best in each different location .

Well all I can say is van mount wouldn't work on 80 per cent of my work, I wouldn't drag a hose through someone's house for a start if you start picking and choosing what type of work you take on you're restricting increasing your customer base. the vehicle is always close by so it takes 2 minutes to refill and filling from a tank will be easier than emptying barrels, when you compare to van mount and reeling in and out and access problems I find it hard to understand how van mount is quicker on most work unless it's Schools or contract buildings?

Probably it is widely used already but I discovered a little technique for myself that saves me time on larger properties - I just leave my backpak near the van, drop the pipe from tank in it and open the tap at about 1/3, and off I go cleaning without a need to go back and refill.

It basically works as a van mount for me when needed.

With respect I wouldn't take on a job were I would have to go through a customers house and I am in no way restricting my customer base and I am fortunate that I am in a position were I can turn work down , Ultimately it depends on a individuals work and approach to what work they are happy to do . Unfortunately in this town some areas are all access problems

We try to avoid them but needs must etc

I either drag my hose through or they don't get done

I have managed to not get too many though
