I do 4 care homes for a company. I clean them every 4 weeks and finish the last one 4 weeks after I've cleaned the first one then I send my invoice for all of them. At first payment was made straight away, just lately payments have slowed right up. I was paid for Octobers clean last week. I'm still owed Novembers and 2 of the homes were due to be cleaned on Friday. They're all on the suspended list until I get what's owed. Payment for November is due to be sent w/c 12/12/16. I won't hold my breath.

Carehomes are the tightest going, a lot around here are run by our asian friends and they scrimp and scrape on everything to maximsise profits.

.

I clean a few care homes all are monthly or bi monthly none quarterly and all are priced well.

If he was happy with the £60 guy why ask for a quote?

With out seeing the job no one can give you a price or say what you did was right.

In my opinion 150 commercial windows at £185 cleaned quarterly is to cheap at £60 it's taking the complete pxxs or the cleaner isn't quite all there.

£60 sounds very cheap. As a very bad guide, its £1 per window with houses. Its 150 windows but all in 1 go, so should be cheaper. Then its commercial so it needs to be more.

You don't sound miles off

I do two care homes - one is indeed £60 but it has about 20 windows and takes me 30min. The only problem with that one is they take a minimum of two weeks to pay me and the transfer date seems to vary to suit them every time I query it, but I do eventually get my money.

The second is charged per flat, at either £3 for two windows or £5 for the ones with 4 (2 smaller side windows), plus communal spaces vary for their requirements. All in all it's about 15 flats and one of the community spaces per month and I get around £140 per visit, which they are delighted with. I'm going to increase their prices in April for the first time in 5 years though to 50p+ per flat and £2+ per communal.

So in retrospect I think you're being fair, and the price the previous person was coming in at was way too low. Don't blame you for wanting to sod that off for 25p a window haha

Hello Paul .

I used to clean 2 nursing homes , a big one £220 8 wks , small one £50 4 wks .

No problem for a good few years, then both got taken over with another group within the same year .

The payments started to slow up and then I heard they had been asking a couple of other guys I know If they could do them cheaper !

Comical thing is one of the guys they asked used to give me a lift if I did them on a Saturday LOL .

I ended up dropping them both eventually ( became a pain in the ass) I thought I'd miss em but looking back it made no difference to my earnings , I picked up 2 blocks of retirement flats shortly after £200 4wks payment no problem,

Christmas tips, pots of tea , biscuits ,cake , the old girls love treating their windie LOL.

You're better leaving it alone mate .

All the best mate .

Glenn .

I don't have any care homes on my round but I've just picked up a new commercial office above shops on high street just last week. 44 windows in total, 22 at front, 22 at back. I quoted £2 a window, so £88 in total and got the job. Its every 12 weeks. Prob take me 1 hour to do

I think £2 a window is resonable in most cases when it comes to commercial

@paul1 I would have quoted about what you did or maybe more, depend on the size of the windows and ease of access ect ect. The other cleaner who used to do it, sounds like a joker. Either that or they are BSing you to see how you react.

cheers guys thought I was about right, personally think £60 is crazy for size of the property I viewed and amount of windows etc.. they taking the pee or like you say other guy nuts, waste of my time any less than what I quoted got some big detached homes with stacks les windows and they pay £30 ish a month... cheers lads

I did two care homes, the one I do monthly to this day after 20 odd years pay promptly and are a pleasure to do, the other a couple of years ago got taken over and I was forever chasing my money. I was looking at dumping it, Alas was taken out of my hands and I got dumped.(probably cheaper). In the end it was a relief as I wasn't having to wait 3 months for MY money and I picked up work and was as busy as ever. I just felt relief getting rid. Are all us guys dealing with the same care home group? lol.

I ve got private houses I do monthly for more than £60 so the price you gave for that number of windows I would say was cheap to reasonable walk away they will be trouble and bad payers

To the more experienced window cleaners £60 seems stupidly cheap. However, for someone working a minimum wage job and doing some trad work part time with zero or very little outgoings £20 per hour is hard to turn down and is probably delighted for the work.

Totally, its easy to sniff at those prices but 20 quid an hour all day long is still 120 in 6 hours, if youve been used to doing 8 hour days at minimum wage thats a pretty nice crack.

I look back when i first started doing the business part time, i cleaned a car full valet in 3 hours for £40 cash and i felt on top of the world, that would have taken me about 6 hours in my job at the time. I also remember doing my first 100 quid in a day, wow that was a lot of money 2 years ago.

Funny how our view changes over time. Truth is we will never be satisfied theres always that thirst for more
