Last week was smoothest week in ages for me. Today this guy who lives in huge farm house has cancelled for second time and iv not done first clean yet lol. I had 2 messers last week that iv sacked off.

Iv not had many cancel but iv had hardly any tips and used to get a lot of people tipping. I think people are skint tbh there doesn't seem to be as much buzz about crimbo this year with the customers.

The reverse for me, more customers then normal want extra windows cleaned - backs, a few internals.

Had a couple of new enquiries, people at home and seeing me clean a neighbour's windows - had to say I can't clean until the new year in 4 weeks time.

If they agreeto that, then that usually tells me they are genuine clients.

I also can't wait until Thursday to wrap things up.....

Hope things pick up for you 'adam angler'

I suppose i will have to take it on the chin this week, you never know I might get done by weds at this rate. plus side lol

My phone keeps ringing all day long "Can you clean them tomorrow?"

well.. I live in Ireland where everyone get them windows cleaned just twice a year - Christmas and Easter...

I just cant build nice rounds over here as it just wouldnt work that way. It is not like in UK where every man gets out on Sunday morning to wash his car and everyone loves to keep windows and house nice and clean.

I can get loyal customers I can get recommended and I can earn loads of money with addons but if I would go only for windows I would need about 900 customer base just to pay my bills...

exaggerating a bit but it is not far from how it works over here:

1. They all need to be IN when I am cleaning (have 2 exceptions) so a lot of fiddling around with when/where a lot of calls and texts and time wasting.

2. Dog **** - it is OK to have it all over your backyard (apparently)

3. Cancellations because NO MONEY

4. Cancellations because BAD hungover

5. Cancellations because WE LEAVE it TILL YOU ARE HERE NEXT TIME

6. Cancellations because..

So I figured it out - If someone goes for the third clean without moaning I drop the price and offer a 6 or 8 weekly.

But till then - They pay loads for (absolutely SPOTLESS) job!

Messy over here, but I love it! /emoticons/smile.png

Sounds as Ballache to me. feel better now after reading that stormin.

My only problem is I don't have enough customers otherwise I wouldn't care less about the odd skip.

Shall rectify that next year

I've built a great round. U need a better attitude

Complete opposite for me, struggling to fit in extra cleans for customers.

Next year mate try and have a positive mental attitude about work. You seem to be a kinda glass is half empty guy, try the opposite. If it was me i would be like right that 3/4 less customers to do this week. So now i need to get some more! I know xmas is just round the corner but PMA mate!

But you are in NI peter rogers ? It is a bit of a different story up there I think. Also I am not the best person to judge as only 4 month full time on windows and gutters and just figuring out the way that works best for me.

I am focusing mainly on Gutters, fascia and conservatory cleaning as I realised it is the best way to gain serious customers and so my window cleaning round builds itself naturally without need of canvassing. So for me it is a win win. Lets say today I have 3 "gutters and windows" jobs it will earn me good $$ and I will get three 8 weekly customers without walking miles and knocking doors. I try to keep it simple and it works for me this way.

My previous post was a bit harsh and cynical so I understand why you are thinking that I have wrong attitude.

Maybe I should after all accept your invitation and get up there to NI and see how things has to be done, peter rogers ! /emoticons/wink.png

I know what your saying @Damo but it's hard to be positive about getting more customers when that's been the bain of my life for 2 years lol getting the customers I'd the hard part the rest is easy.

Anyway that will change next year going to invest big into getting it built up full once and for all.

Why money is tighter? It is so much cheaper up in the North!?

Well - seems to me anyway.

What is cheaper?

(Houses prices/rent obviously)

Anything else?

I would have thought all else is standard..... Maybe I'm wrong (I'm in London - the MOST expensive place on the planet it seems)
