Can someone explain how this works, I keep reading the same stuff on Google.

I have a listing on yell.com, I've added my website to my listing. Is yell.com now providing a backlink to my site?

Even though the link from yell.com to your site is technically still a link, it actually passes through a sub domain of yell.com before it reaches the final destination.

Don't forget that some links are "no follow" which means the search engines aren't supposed to follow it when indexing. However, having no follow links are still good for SEO (hard to explain this one) just don't waste too much of your time on them.

The best place for links is through articles. Write something useful and unique. People will start linking to it naturally and after a few months, edit the article and add a link to your website.

That's easily fixed. Go to Fiverr.com and get someone to write something for you. It's $5 or £3-ish and you'll get it in a few days. Create a Squidoo account and upload the information.

Yeah theres some absolute gems on there mate. There's a guy that'll make a life and death situation for $5. You could get someone on there to do your video thing you mentioned.
