Gaining Commercial Work

D

Hi all I am a newbie to this site so take it easy on me lol.

I have been a window cleaner for 15 years now so would consider myself experienced. I recently set up on my own after being made redundant from a multi national company. So as the title suggests I am looking for advise on gaining commercial work. I have been sending letters and emails and have advertised on yell but am really struggling when it comes to commercial work. I have got a fair bit of residential work from yell but that's about it.

Would anyone have any advise on gaining the commercial side of things? Many thanks in advance....

commercial work is a little harder to get into i find, all shops already been taken by others, larger companies/hotels can use larger contractor companies.

i personaly type a letter on company headed paper, enclosed a company leaflet and business card then take it to a company and ask for it to be passed onto the manager. then about a week later follow up with a phone call or if im passing pop in on the off chance the manager is free to chat about it.

Ah, Not any good then, I have a link to site where the councils in Scotland post some of there contracts. The only problem is there all to big or far away for me /emoticons/sad.png
Any over in my neck of the woods?

Get a strong residential customer base mate /emoticons/smile.png Then start getting little shops.takeaways then you can look higher mate /emoticons/smile.png

Because residential customers are the key... they are your cash flow at the end of the day mate /emoticons/smile.png/emoticons/biggrin.png

I've never gotten a commercial job from sending a letter or email.

All my commercial jobs are from walking in and speaking to the manager, yes, you get turned away a few times but call at different times or even ring and book an appointment.

I've even called and said to the manager I can quote him for his premises if he gives me permission to look round and I'll pass the quote on for him/her to look at at a convenient time for them, meaning that they don't get bothered til they have it in hand and they gear themselves up mentally for the task of changing window cleaners.

And I've picked up a lot of commercial this year so anyone who refutes this tactic can't.lol

At least 22 off top of my head.

Will need to count to be honest, as at 10pm on a Sunday it's far from me.
