WCF

Help Support WCF:

I help out with my kids at Scouts, so I have to be CRB checked (or DBS as it's becoming known). So, when I took the van in for signwriting I had it added.

Instils a bit more confidence with the customers I think
Can't remember the title but my dad was in scouting most of his life

He worked up to gsl and then district roles

Very rewarding for some people

I actually took a few of them canoeing when i was an instructor and that was fun and went with them to derby so i could go off caveing and climbing while they were doing their stuff

Yeah I'm up at hall later to as a parent helper and enjoy it, but to become leader it takes up so much time, but happy to help out at all the activities.

Keeps em off the Xbox!

Like the idea for getting rid of the doll Dodgers and kiddy fiddlers, but I won't be the first person for a bit of scrapping on the permanent record

hopefully we will get it down here but then the dole boy's just say they cannot afford fine
There's a few still working without licenses round here, but they're getting less and less as the council are cracking down on them. I grudge the money for the license but it is a good thing I suppose.

So just another thing to earn revenue from people trying to run a business then? Terrible.
I think its perfectly reasonable to have the profession monitored to a degree - they do authenticate that you have insurance and perform a CRB check (or whatever it's called now) and some councils review your safety procedures.

That's all good and weeds out the beer runs that give us a bad name.

However it seems ridiculous that every council has their own version. Do taxi drivers have to pay each council/borough they drive through??

I think there should be a standard charge for each council - say £50 annually and an admin fee of £25 for each additional area.

Yes I agree. There is massive cost difference per region in Scotland too. This doesn't have anything to do with more financial gain by working in set regions either. Some regions that are overall economically poorer have more expensive licences for example..sometimes a local approach just leads to councils milking it
