Called on a regular customer to day to be told he owes me money. I told him he didn't as we missed last month as they were away. He then went in and returned with a home made bill from another window cleaner. I explained nothing to do with me. Oh he said looking again at the bill £8 cheaper than me. Bugger that, can you leave it till tomorrow and do in an out please.

All for free enterprise but to clean and bill without being asked is out of order.

I had similar last month, two wfp guys turned up and started cleaning my customers house. Customer asked who they where and their reply was. Where your window cleaners,

Customer, no your not

Wfp guys, yes we are, been cleaning this house for four years.

Customer, I've lived here for two years and I've never seen you lot before, pack up your gear and go.

This they did, unfortunately he never got there names. Wonder how many people just accept there dubious canvassing technique.

i had this once guy turned up and cleaned windows then got payed as the nan was looking after the house i turned up a few days after he did them to be told they have only just bin done!! i said o did u not want me to clean them any more he said i dont no ill ask wife when she gets home then had the call explaning that a guy turned up there must have bin a muddle up some were down the line she said miss then next time and come time after ,they wateded for the chap to come again and watched him clean them when he nocked the door they said your not are wc dont come back  i still clean this job now lol this happend like 2 years ago ish:rolleyes:

custy I picked up 4 months ago's windy disappeared 6 months previous. Last month he turned up whilst she was out, and billed her as if he hadn't been away. He knocked on the door that evening to collect, and my custys tore him a new one. Apparently, according to the neighbours she said how dare he turn up after 9 month with a poor excuse (something about a roofing job), then have the audacity to carry on without asking first, before then going on to say the she has a new windy, who's more professional, polite, and does a better job then he ever had, and that he wasn't getting paid and to never darken her door ever again! (I have cleaned it up a bit) good to know you can instill that amount of loyalty in 3 month's, great confidence booster

I had a window cleaner clean my windows, he climbed over the locked gate and billed me for it, my sign written van was outside the house as well. I called them and gave them what for. I see them regularly round here cleaning traditional 3 stories up and walking on glass roofs. Some always seem to take a chance.

So nobody has ever made a mistake and cleaned the wrong house ever?

Nobody takes on new staff or helpers and a 5 may look like a 6?

I had to really think about a house on Friday because they had simply changed the windows and was convinced it was the wrong house.

Yeah that's also a possibility.. a few have been done by my guys in past lol, I cleaned one of my customers houses and they said it had just been cleaned, guy looked ruff said he was new guy only had squeegee and I thought windows hadn't been done... definitely a scam too!!!

1st day with my father-in-law. He said clean the one in the corner, meaning the house. I wasn't sure so I did the one in the other corner, which was a large 2 storey block of flats, felt like a right Muppet, still winds me up about it to this day!!

Seriously! I wouldnt risk jailtime for that ! My brother once just soaped all their Windows up and left ,they refused to pay after a clear agreement , on first clean at the spot . When he cleaned and rang the door , the older lady Said " we dont have an agreement , and wont pay!"
