Roof Cleaning

if you use a pressure washer on a tile roof the washer will do a great job but it will remove the grit which is the protective coating so make sure and tell the customer it has to be resealed this can be hand painted or sprayed on .as regards moss removal the popular product seems to be mossgo or mossgo pro which is used by roof cleaners .they have a good website its mossgo.co.uk theres a section on roof cleaning well worth a look

Check this out, someone who lives at the back of me, is having there roof cleaned, so I got my bike and went to there street, to talk to the guy, one guy is cleaning the roof, one guy just hanging round the van.

Asked him, how much you charge for the roof, he goes, for this, its a grand!

I was like you must be minted then, he goes ner, not really, its the sales team, and managers that get it most of it.

Cant remember the name of the company, roof (something) cleaning, repair and something else was there motto

That is the back of the house he is cleaning, the fronts, I don't know if you can see the house by the left, that is what the front looks like.

Where were you when you took that photo lol. Looks liek you were up a tree haha

Do you really need to seal the roof after? A company was up here doing the council houses, cherry picker and 2 washers with extension lances.. Lol, after they washed them, they got roofers in and changed half the slates, roofs looks stupid now prob been Cheeper putting on whole new roof.

Have seen some roofs that have been painted after and they look great. But how much extra would you charge for sealing/painting.. What product would you use? Would smart seal be any good?

Using a chlorine solution wash is perhaps the most preferred method in roof cleaning a home or business. This method requires a significantly smaller amount of time for rinsing. Therefore, it will ultimately take a lot less time to complete your roof-cleaning project with this method.

a guy that does a lot of roof cleaning told me that they should be resealed after powerwashing . ive used smartseal and found it very good the roof looked great it was a coloured one which was also a sealant as well 20 litres costs roughly 85 pounds and has a coverage of about 120 sq meters

obviously prices vary in different areas . id want a minium of 550 for a mid terrace to include moss removal then powerwash then to apply mossgo and paint also theres a good bit of cleaning up afterwards . i taped up builders plastic from the gutters down to protect the house also i had to wash down the front of the neighbours .

Yea alot of work, I watched the guys doing them round my area, just blasting the roof and gutters out with pressure washer sending moss everywhere. They done about 20 council houses, replaced nearly half the tiles on each roof, they look worse than they did stinking!

Saw a guy jet washing a roof down the other day he had a ladder up to the gutter and was walking on the tiles. Not enough money in the world to get me up there doing that all that water and moss.

A very common form of roof mold removal is chlorine bleach. Typically you mix one-part bleach with three-parts water and add a pinch of TSP (Tri-Sodium Phosphate) for an extra-strength solution. Next, take some precaution with surrounding foliage: bleach can severely hurt plant life, so make sure to spray down any nearby shrubs or trees with water before and after the project and cover them up for the duration of the job. Then, put the mixture in a standard garden pump-sprayer and gently apply the solution to the surface of the infected roofing (make sure to avoid contact with other parts of the building). Also, avoid scrubbing since friction may loosen and remove the asphalt shingles' granule coating. Let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse with a hose (avoid power washing since it could also loosen the granules). Allow it to completely dry and then re-inspect the area: if it still appears slick and slimy, the process may have to be repeated.
