Hi Guys,

My first post here and a complete newbie in window cleaning

Just wondering how you guys cope with doin upstairs windows when the ground is uneven do you have sum kit to level out your ladders or just use a trad type pole

Thanks.

id also like to know this. id like to get into window cleaning. when im walking round i always wonder how you get to the windows with a porch over them. you cant step on teh porch and not enough room for a ladder.

does anyone know of a site where they have pics of ladder set ups. or perhaps someone on here can take pics of their ladder set up /emoticons/biggrin.png

The first post you can get rubber ladder mats that you slip under 1 end of your ladder to make it even. The 2nd post you can either by a long ladder that goes over porches & put a ladder stand on it to pull you out a bit. If its on grass you can buy aluminium ladder stops which have spikes on them that are used for decking but can be stuck in the grass and holds your ladder at a acute angle. If porch sticks out to much or if it's a window over a conny you just have to leave it or go down the long pole route which isn't best or the backpack wfp route. If there's two of you one can foot the ladder while the other goes up.

Theres loads of levellers out there, depends what you want to pay but all ladder companies and some window cleaning suppliers sell then.

I personally liked my basemate before the ladder it was on was nicked lol.

Do you guys not prefer ladders with spikes on the bottom. I've been using wooden ladders with spikes for the last 7 years and love them.

As for cleaning windows that are recessed or above a porch then maybe use a poll. Put your ladder up against the porch, climb it till you are above the porch the use your applicator and squeegee attached to your pole to clean it. It might not be as good a job as the windows yoU can actually reach, but it's better than nothing and better to be safe.

Just explain it to ur customer and they will be fine

Ohhh he went there!!! lol

This is what I do in some cases

theres loads i cant do in my area its a joke i use a ladder stand on a few but most have to leave them the angle is just too risky.plus you allways risk damaging the gutters.

I got a base ate on my ladder and it is probably the best bit of kit I have invested in !!!

Look for midland ladders on google .

The base mate is ideal especially on these new builds with stupid designed gardens .
