The Key To Canvassing?

W

Wheatie

I understand it may go a little something like this:

Windy: Knock knock.....

Windy: "Ooooiiiiiiiii"

Old lady: "hello"

Windy: "want your windows cleaning you old cow"

Old Landry: "uuurrggghhh not at 1am I don't"

Windy: "well ur loss"

End of conversation.....lol

Just joking, when you know how do you sell yourself? I would totally wear a polo shirt with companies logo on, clean shaven I would say is a must good way of presentation! A clean van!

What would you guys is a must for canvassing and winning the lovely old lady on the otherside of the door, or any other of the British public?

Many thanks!

Be presentable, polite and positive, but not pushy. When you knock the door, stand back a little. Try to feel relaxed, smile and look the householder in the eye when speaking to him/her. If you make the householder feel at ease you will more likely win him/her over.

Treat each door as if it is your first. It is a numbers game, so look at every 'no' as being closer to the next 'yes'.

Best wishes,

John

best advice for canvassing = smile! be positive

another good tip when canvassing is to mention that you have already picked a few custies up on there street so would they like a price too, most people like to keep up with the jones's and it also shows that your price is likely to be fair as some of there neighbours have already signed up! trust me it works

Just a word of warning, when you do a street and get loads of no's, then get to price up a house and the owner says yes. When you've priced the back up and are heading out the gate, don't do a victory dance because the customer will still be behind you to lock the gate. I still find it quite embarrassing 4 months later!

Just remember when your out canvasing you never get a second chance to make a first impression, look smart, smell nice, be confident and professional, let them know your local, thats the clincher for me with loads of customers.

thats true, i open with, 'hi sorry to bother you, im a local window cleaner, iv picked up a few customers on your street and just wondered if you would like a price aswell while im here?' works a treat
