Yes, as the tube comes out from the top of the pole, cut it and then join the two ends to the fitting. I have a gardiner pole and my did not come fitted with one. Will post some pics tomorrow.. it's a bit late now, and the wife is calling :)

 
You order as an extra with gardiner poles 9.50 comes fitted but not near brush comes other end so you can hold it as you clean

Most customers tell us they've used them.  Having them at the brush end means you can't control the water when the pole's extended. Having them in-line means reaching down to find them, or having a loop of hose.

How you turn it off when it's at the top of your pole lol

 
Why would anyone even do that? lol. It makes way more sense to put it as close the the bottom of the pole as you can.
Squeak does it lol...

I have mine attached at bottom of pole and hold it in my hand, simple flick on flick off.. Squeak your back to front pal..
