Uniform

****, According to my accountant, its for not for the self employed.

  • ''Hi Marc, it applies to flat rate expenses for employees and not self employed. Clothing has duality of purpose and is generally not allowed for tax purposes and it follows that expenses for cleaning clothes etc is not allowed.''

Yup! The Gaffer is right.

Tax relief for the laundering of uniforms is for employees. These uniforms must have the company logo on too.

It alters your tax code (may be better off by a whole £1.00 a week).

You can back-date the claim for up to 2 years, as long as that claim is with your current employer.

You don't need those web sites or even pay anyone else to do it for you.

All you need do, is write a letter to your local Tax Office stating you believe your entitled to a tax allowance for the launder of logo'd company uniform.

Should take about 4-5 weeks.
