do any of you get threats off other window cleaners i get the odd phone call after ive put leaflets out telling me to stay off there patch. but recently been told by another window cleaner that someones after me because i stole 3 of his customers in an area that i dont even clean in just anoys me that people think they can tell you were you can and can't work

Theres always gonna be a few that think they own a patch so what can ya do, stand up to em or walk away? It's time they grew up and moved with the times.

I get where old school window cleaners do this, but ive come across a few modern(newish) window cleaners, who dont really care, and maybe even say hi to you and then get on with there work.

I had a situation once where the house opposite had builders working on it. They were talking and pointing my way. Then one of them came across and 'identified' me as the window cleaner who was having an affair with his wife (not the language he used but you can guess what he said), and that he was going to 'do me'.

I asked where he lived, and when he told me it transpired that I didn't work in his neighbourhood. Phew!

John

ure lucky he came and said something first most the people were i come from punch first then ask questions.

If you ever do get any threats don't get involved but do report it to the police so that its on record. then if it does come to blows you have got your story straight from the beginning.

ive been speaking to a couple of windys and theyve said thers a bloke going round in a silver van undercutting people and staeling work so this annoyed windy might think its me as ive got a silver van but mines all sign written now

Sounds like a case of mistaking you for someone else

How awkward if he has kids that look like you aswell ahahaha

Stand up to em and just offer them a fight /emoticons/smile.png if u win then u win if u lose then u lose /emoticons/tongue.png simple lol

This type neanderthal behaviour does my head in, where I live it's very territorial most of the windys in the area don't drive I think this is maybe a reason for there behaviour
So "bike rage" or walk rage"?

I can honestly say that I've never had anything negative said to me by any other window cleaner.

Whenever i've been cleaning near another cleaner I'll stop and say hello, have a quick chat and then get on. There's certainly never been a problem re stealing work or being on someone else's patch.

Haha saw that a while ago, when me and a mate was coming up with buinessess ideas.

When I first started window cleaning, everyone kept telling, make sure you becarful and safe, don't want you to get in a window cleaning wars, like ice cream van men do!

I have had at least one incident like this almost every year since I started window cleaning. I know who most of the roughs are now, and they stay clear of me. I just tell them straight, "I work where ever I want, so you can do something about it, or beat it". I have never had anyone take me up on that, they all mouth off a little bit more, then, off they go.

You'll get this kind of thing in all trades, not just window cleaning, as said before, don't back down, stand up for yourself, and they wont bother you. These people are cowards, there more interested in intimidation tactics, and probably couldn't fight there way out off a paper bag.

I had someone right mouth off at me.

As always I never know what to do or say...am really bad at these situations.

Anyway he calms down abit after explaining how he thought I took his customer, but they rang me to be there window cleaner etc etc.

Anyway he was like, sorry to have a go at you etc, and its good to see youths try to do something for money rather then be on the dole etc etc never seen him again though and make sure I do different days to to him tho.

What was really wierd tho, he was sacked from that house(like last year), like I said, but when I turned up last month my mate said he cleaned the front I dont get how or why. but his mom was busy so I didnt talk to her.

He goes can you do the back please as fronts already been done, so I did the back

Am not too fused as I got paid anyway, sometimes they just want the fronts doing(say if they are out) and whole house if there in.

It was on topic ffs !!!!

You delete my thread about telling someone to grow up !

Yet you keep a post condoning voilence get a effin grip !!!! Man .

This is the exact reason I have stopped coming on here and posting because of this exact reason !!!

what i would do is a step by step guild dont let them worry you.

take a picture of them if you had seen them.

get as much info about them as possible.

take all the info to the police.

and keep a record.

people think its ok to do this me i don't really give a dam i had a phone call the other day saying keep of his patch because i was cheaper i said if im cheaper then you then your over billing customers your british gas im eon its just the same way lower your prices and i dont take response like this kindly so its up to you where you want to go from hear because this is been lodged on my voice recorder and the threats are going to the police,

he hung up and havent seen him since so just get on with life. if it comes to blows just do self defense

Get on with all windys round my way. We all get on quite well. Even had some canvassers on my patch Thursday & they even asked if I minded them going round. I said no as new they would price higher then me ( they did by £4). Estate has about 400 houses on it & some other windies do them to. Anyway saw them at end of day, they got 5 customers. Said they were giving up in the town I was in as thed seen 4 windys including me & we all said the same that you won't get many in this town as it is saturated with windies. We were right
