Following on from a hijacked thread, I'm starting a new one. This is how I do it, it's not necessarily the best way, but its my way and I'm picky lol.

Firstly my three big no's

Ok I am first going to apologies as car cleaning is kinda my thing and I hate to see people by doing my way, tht not to say your way is wrong lol.....

I would never ever ever recommend you use any kind of brush on a car, even a wfp brush made specifically for it. You know sometime you see cars with all those swirly marks on them - that's from auto car washes.... And they will never fully come out, same applies to any brush..... Over time it will swirl and dull the paint work.

Secondly - never ever ever use a washing up fluid of any kind to wash a car - they contain acids and other nasty substances that will eat away at your paint.....see all those cars with rusty arches......fairy!!! There are some exceptions like the ecover and some gentle on hand ones.

Thirdly - I hate the use of jet washes....there not bad if used on a lowish pressure from a distance...but I've seen what they can do and wouldn't recommend it!!!

I get pretty much everything from: http://www.carchem.co.uk/

Seriously good stuff.

So for a mini valet I'd usually:

Dust.

Interior widows.

Hoover

Use a lint roller to get anoying bits off.

Wipe the door sills clean.

Spray snow foam over the whole car using a hand held pump sprayer leaving it for 3minutes...rinse using a seperate spray.

Clean the wheels now before washing rest of car so if any dirt flicks up it gets rinsed off.

Two buckets half full, one with water, one with you shampoo, using a hand mitt (not a sponge) dip shampoo, rub on car, dip in water, dip in shampoo, rub on car..... Top half first, lower section after.

Rinse with the sprayer that just has water in(its a weed type sprayer)

Dry with a couple of micro fiber towels.

I then use a spray on wax using a micro fibre to rub in and a different micro fibre to buff shinny.

Do the plastics.

Dress the tyres.

(Think that's it)

My mondeo (with buggy and car seat and **** in boot that has to be taken out) takes about 40 minutes start to finish, packing up and setting up takes about 2 minutes either end as its all in one basket in order with a section for dirty clothes.

sounds like a good way I always use the 2 bucket method then the wide nozzle on my jetwash to rinse down never thought about using pressure sprayers thow I shall be having a play over the weekend. Do you use a vacuum or just the lint roller

Vacuum followed by lint roller. at the moment I'm using a light plug in one... But I borrowed a handheld dyson the other day (the one on the advert) and that is defo the best... Better than Henry ect

Yer always double bucket. Before I knew what I was doing... I washed my firt car with just a bucket, sponge and fairy and put a deep scratch I the door....dirt gets caught in sponges really easy. Paint then started flaking a well r two later... Wasn't happy lol

Best way to clean windows??

I been in other peoples cars who have there cars valeted, and as a window cleaner I can see smears, swirly marks!!

Since I noticed that, I washed window then dryed with towl(window still damp) then dry with scrim, but still not best results.

So decided to wash interier windows, then squeegeed off then detailed, its a skill squeegeeing concerved windows Ill tell ya! This is I reckon best way to clean interier windows!

sounds like you've got it sorted gona do a bit a of shopping and see what I can do this weekend then hopefully will be able to add on to my business and be able to do at a competitive price

I use pure water in a spray bottle with a couple of microfiber cloths I spray water on wipe with the first cloth then buff up with second doesn't take long and streak free

It's a right pain, I use pronto which doesn't smear too badly, its just too fiddly to tbar inside lol

I don't tbar inside lol, I just use soapy water the same as I do for window cleaning, but I use a cloth for the inside windows, then squeegee off.

At the weekend am going to do what Jim said, use spray pure water on the inside but I will squeegee off then use scrim to detail.

you only need a light spray no need to squeegee you can do a van or small car with one cloth I use 2 when I do my estate as is got as much glass as a house lol

There's a guy I know who does detailing alongside running a Subaru breakers and he does a good job to be honest

But he does charge for it approximately around £150 to £200 for a full valet .

If I told someone I can clean there car for that much, people would look at me gone out lol

How do people charge that much blows me!!??

It's not just cleaning a car though .

He uses tooth brushes and cocktail sticks to get dirt from where you wouldn't even think there was dirt lol .

Fair play to him, although he is underselling himself at that price unless its just mazda mx5's at that price lol

Like i said before time is money so spending 40 mins or so on one car is bonkers for only £12 /emoticons/ohmy.png

This one they can detail a whole 4x4 car in under 8 mins. Go figure

i did see this video on the other thread but thought we hijacked it a bit much lol.

Thats his site there, he was doing well. Now winters came its not so good. He get a lot of repeat business 90% of his work is from facebook aswell so you might be in there.
nice one mate.... looks very good. I maybe wouldn't have used a shampoo&wax combo my self like he does, even though it is quicker. just personal prefereance though lol.
