So I put an add on Gumtree looking for a canvasser yesterday, I just got a reply someone interested.

I already stated that I would pay 1 x per clean for every house they got (tight I know)

My other service would be commission based pay, Whats the going rate / reasonable rate?

Pay 2x per clean or 1 x per clean with 5 pound per hour on top
The agreed rate is 1 x per clean. Im not changing it now. You do realise adding 5 on top per hours is suicide? There is no guarantee you going to get a return on your money lol.

Whats the % for other services like gutter cleans and pressure washing etc. I see another add on gumtree (different line of work) at 30%

Id pay %50 of first clean .

At the end of the day theres a lot of people out there looking for work its an employers market at the moment .

If you say you would pay £5 an hr H and 1x clean il come work for you now .

Guaranteed id be earning more than you .

I got my nephew going to get me leads hopefully ive offered him %50 of first clean price

For what ever he gets me anx hes happy with that .

So if sum 1 went out for u n u payed 2x per clean n the canvasserr gained 50 kwids of work ud pay him 100 if u done 1x per and 5 an hour ud pay 65 but u gotta make sure their bringing customers in

What happens on those days they dont get anything? Unless your with them there going to take the ****. All they need to do is go sit in a cafe' or a friends house and do nothing and still get paid for it.

You have only based your assumption on them gaining work every time they go out, which we all know very well isnt the case.

If you have the time and money its worth taking a rookie on, just be aware that if your paying 50% or 100% you may end up having to re canvass the work and its difficult to keep a good canvasser when they are not earning decent money.

You may even find yourself having to get a new canvasser a month, the average life span for a door to door guy is 21 days

If you want it done properly and stress free, give me a shout.

Sorry if this sounds a bit "picky" but what exactly do you mean by good work?

Guys your lucky I looked on this today my prices are going up as of the 10th January to coincide with the launch of the new website and logos see my Facebook info for full details https://www.facebook.com/WhizzBizzSales

I must warn you I have 3 weeks available in Jan and then Im fully booked in February.

I only offer 1 package to new clients for this reason, its an affordable amount and its a wake up call for some guys that canvassed work is extremely hard work for everyone involved and its not for everyone, in fact when I bring in 150 customers in a week some cleaners actually mess their pants as its more customers than they currently have ie H you would absolutely soil yourself.

When I say good work, I mean repeat work, I generally get £750 in first clean value after we minus of cancellations that normally leaves between £450-£600. If your interested I suggest you get in quick because Im really going for it next year.

Interesting post this and these are my personal thoughts.

Often enough a Canvasser will go into an area and to get results will undercut the local window cleaner. The person who then inherits these new customers is often earning less per hour than if he was pricing the job himself. Then it does happen depending on the character the window cleaner is that has been undercut threats can be made and driven out of the area. ( In extreme cases )

To me this is the perfect canvassing strategy would be to seek and gain work where there is no window cleaner (domestic).

To price the agreed hourly rate the customer wants to achieve. (£40 per hour etc..)

Just my thoughts and is achievable but with hard work.

Personally I think if you go under cutting on poorly priced work your insane, you dont need to underprice work on domestic my favourite thing to do is when they say my last guy charged me £6 for the whole house I like to charge £6 on a front. "Do you want it yes or no Mr customer ?"

H dont panic its a nice little .com website with new logo etc, sincerely hope it meets your approval

Whizz bizz I still cant quite grasp why you want to charge upfront? please could you explain your reasoning for this? surely it cant be due to cashflow if you are fully booked all the time?..... You will probably say its because I need to pay fuel hotels etc but in every business you have an outlay before you get a return correct ?.

Just my opinion tho /emoticons/biggrin.png
