Having discussion with a mate on the bus today(went christmas shopping lol)

Having a discusion about ladder saftey vs wfp.

And

Seeing post on this forum where people have died due to ladder saftey..

It got me thinking....

So many times have I been on a ladder and leant back a little bit where you feel like your gonna fall(*buit dont!!*)

Is there not something where you can harness yourself to your ladder when your at the top or something, to stop falling back or falling off ladder since this is how, many accidents happen??

Second to that is where the ladder slips out at the bottem but you get those special ladder footers...

Just a thought...

Yer u could harness yourself to the ladder to stop you fall, but if you don't fix the ladder to the wall at the top,

the ladder will just fall with you.

This type of ladder restaint & fall arest system has been about for a few years now

I got one of them grippa ladder about a month back & have used it a few time & believe me feel so much safer with it there. The ladder don't move.

They have for being used like that, but not many guys clean windows using those sort of ladders! Lol

It Is the only way to prevent someone falling off a ladder & hiting the ground though unlike this plonker /emoticons/biggrin.png

If you look at the vid frames approx 54 seconds in that ladder was actualy anchored to the wall with an anchor bolt and ladder straps to prevent the ladder kicking out but did not prevent the top of the ladder from slipping sideways

I use one of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-Ladder-Stabiliser-/290730897981?pt=UK_H_G_Ladders_RL&hash=item43b0e9723d

along with one of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LADDER-ANCHOR-STABILISER-BRACE-SAFETY-LADDERS-/230899315732?pt=UK_H_G_Ladders_RL&hash=item35c2abf414

I clean a lot of roofs so they are essential , if im cleaning gutters and moving the ladder a lot i use one off these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/THE-ROJAK-18-LADDER-STABILISER-STOPPER-/220759507320?pt=UK_H_G_Ladders_RL&hash=item33664ac178

So far so good, the top link is a brill bit off kit if the ground slopes as can be adjusted for any angle

Now just wondering if the ceo of morrisons is aware of that video above as it's one of his safety officers demonstrating the level one tetra system when he fell?

Take it that two day tetra instructors course he must have gone on was a bit of a farce.

By the way I have also sent a email to tetra asking why that chap fell using their level two tetra system....

ive got some houses that are relly too high for ladders to be safe,For me to reach the top i would have to have the ladders touching the glass!!so instaed i have to stand on the 3rd rung from the top witch i hate doing and never feel safe this is why i will be switching to backpack system for the tops.not worth the risk.

someone once gave me a ladder mat i never used it it just looked dodgy as hell and i couldnt understand how the hell that will stop your ladder going under you the bottom of it was total junk sack that!!!

Good man as there is no point in taking chances for just a few quid /emoticons/wink.png

Next you will be wanting a van mount /emoticons/biggrin.png

if i had enough houses i would deffo have one but cant fit all my tools into if i had one:(but to be honest a BP is just rite for me as my area is awkward as hell so should be fine for a long while with a BP.
yeah your rite sometimes i think why am i up here for the sake of £6 this is dodgy lol

Just got some new ladders. Lock in place & 3rd bit comes out to create step ladders meaning I can push 2nd platform up to window while the 3rd platform means ladder cannot slip away from me. Also have a wide base on them so ladder cannot slip sideways. Feel a hell of a lot safer now. Bit heavier but worth it.

Got any pics or maybe a link as not sure what ladder you are on about posh.
