Sill Brush Head Or Normal

Help Support WCF:

Okay well I am always willing to try new things.

I will have a look, do you have a website?

Hey damo I also have a bad back.. But such a small weight difference shouldn't effect you, and i didnt notice any difference to be honest. I would be interested to see the weights of the brushes when they are soaking wet.

I have always put it down to weight though.

When rinsing off the glass it's only natural your back sometimes takes the weight of the pole. Instead of arms.

Stretching over a conservatory roof.

Cleaning bottom windows and bending to clean bottom of patio doors.

Damo, the weight is important, as long as any brush isn’t too heavy to begin with, a few extras grams in weight between brushes that are already light, isn’t going to make much difference.

The orientation of the extended pole has more impact, holding an extended 25ft pole vertically is easy when compared too then holding it horizontally, the strain is very apparent, same pole, same weight.

A pole that has more flex or whip will feel heavier to use, the weight of the wfp parts remain the same, inertia & gravity play a bigger part than a few extra grams in brush weight.

The answer is reduced cleaning times; but there are limits 30ft of pole hose & water will be approaching 600grams in weight, not much you can do about that, more rigid poles help counter effects, but the brushes ability to clean fast is the most important, as is choosing the correct type of brush for the work.

Richard

( Not the best example, but if it was just about the brush weight, attach a few tooth brushes to your wfp, see how little work you get done before you get completely exhausted, the tooth brushes will be so light you wont even notice they are there)

Sorry to hear that Damo,my brush head attachment weighs about 20grams more than Gardiner’s, and the brush scraper weighs about 5grams. You could use the extreme brush socket on my brushes that would save you about 25grams, you would have to drill a 3rd hole in the socket to attach it to my brushes. If you use the push on Y piece instead of the quick release Y that would save another 8grams. The brush itself would be about 80grams more in weight, I can sort out a brush with the least weight but you would/should spend less time cleaning, spending more time having to hold an extended pole with pole hose and water while you are working is nothing compared the few grams of extra weight any brush will have.

I am very quick with wfp using my brushes, you would have to approach you work the same way. Turn your water flow up and your back won’t have the time to ache, before you’re onto the next window. I have tested the extreme brushes and they do require more brush strokes and take longer to clean the window, extreme brushes only have about 9,600 bristles and have gaps where the brush cleans; compared to the Hybrid brushes 50,000 plus bristles, the extreme brush is very slow in use.

Richard
That is just your opinion Richard, althought stated by you as a fact. - Myself (a regular Xtreme brush user) and thousands of our clients find Xtreme brushes very fast to use compared to other brushes. Once again this is just mine and others opinion.

Now this brush head has done a lot of graft...

"alwasy end up back at dual trim normal brush, as i dont think there is enough bristles in the cills to give a very good clean, compared to dual trim normal"

I have to agree! I used only my Gardiner Sill brush for over a month and loved it. Then I switched back to my Gardiner Dual Trim Brush for some reason for one job. It gives a better scrub on the glass so I like it better. It's a great all around brush.

I tried the Extreme brush and the weight difference was very noticable. I had the swivel resi gooseneck on the pole as well. Very fast and easy. In the US we only do the windows once or twice a year. I had to redo a few windows because it doesn't scrub as well as the regular brush on a really dirty window, so I won't be using my extreme brush every day. I wish I could though. It was just so light.

Extremes are for regular cleaning. I wouldn't use them on a first clean as you need the extra scrubbing power.

We use extremes day in and day out. And for regular cleaning we love em.

Hi Boston Mike,

Not surprising using that type of filament in the brush, for that type of clean, not having a go at Gardiner’s extreme brush, I wouldn’t recommend using my own 100% polyester brushes for that work, both brushes would take longer than if you had chosen a more suitable brush.

A Tecbuk Hybrid Brush would be a far better choice with far more cleaning bristles and it has the Boars Hair in the centre which would remove any stubborn dirt easily and quickly. These Hybrid brushes are made up of approximately 83% non absorbent monofilament and the rest is 17% Boars Hair in the centre of the brush. If you wanted Mike, I could make a duel trim brush up with a higher percentage of the Boars Hair in the centre. That would be more suitable for work with those longer cleaning frequency. You shouldn’t be spending so long cleaning with a brush like this, so the few extra grams in weight doesn’t come into it.

For US use you do need maximum scrubbing ability to cope with 6-12 months of dirt at a time. My choice for these situation is either the Super-Lite Standard Flocked brush or the Super-Lite Standard Medium-Mixed brush. These would provide tougher scrubbing than either a Super-Lite Radius Sill or Xtreme brush could provide - as we say in the UK 'Horses for Courses'.

Thanks Alex

I really did enjoy the feel of the radius sill and extreme brushes. Highly recommend both brushes but like you said I need more scrubbing power. I use to be a big hogs hair fan and then I discovered the Gardiner dual trim medium bristle brush. Hogs hair is heavy and more difficult to push. I won't throw it away but I don't think I'll ever use it again.

Sounds like a tecbuk hybrid would suit you well, dual trim, polyester on outside and boars hair inside, great scrubbing power and quick too

Who sells that brush? I don't think my supplier J.Rasenstein has it.
Just search members for Richard mate, he owns the company and makes the brushes. Cost is approx in british pounds, 32 unjetted and 34 jetted.
Hybrid is excellent brush.
