No Cold Callers

WCF

Depends on what it on the sticker, if hand written one, just put leaflet thought,

If an official one then I just walk away, can get into trouble if you knock!

Depends!

A few customers which I didn't knock came out asking if I could clean their windows while I was cleaning someone elses.

Knock these they are raving hot, no one knocks them and all I do if they have an issue is just say "sorry I hate to miss people out" and leave. If they go super nova after that and some will. I just look them in the eye and say "most normal people dont mind" and briskly walk off.

But be aware sometimes people have the stickers placed on the home by family members as the occupant is suffering from old age, Ive had the loveliest old ladies on the doors and you have no idea the bats have left the belfry.

Well I got to a gate, seen a sign please close the gate.. Got to their door, no cold callers, sales reps, etc etc so I rang the bell, no answer rang again, waited, was half way putting flyer through the letter box and the door opened.

Me: Hello would...

Her: CAN YOU NOT READ!!!!

Me: sorry, but I clean windows in your street every 4weeks and was just wondering if...

HER: NO I WOULDN'T!!

Me: ok well there's a Flyer anyway

HER: NO THANKS

Me: ok then bye..

So I left her gate wide open, no I can't read beach!!

hey whats the worst reaction any of you had at the door?
Ive had a few odd balls, once when I was selling double glazing I got chatting to an old fella who had recently placed an order with a rival firm that was 150+miles away from him, so I said "whats going to happen if there is issues will they sort it for you ?". He then pulled an 8 inch bowie knife from the back of his trousers and said "it wont be a problem"
I think my worst experience was I knocked on the door, a really nice old guy come to the door and invited me in we had a long chat about this, that and the other and he started to proceed to sign up, when suddenly a young woman come down stairs and started shouting "GET OUT, GET OUT" and she actually grabbed me by the back of the neck and chucked me out. Even the old guy was saying "calm down"

Ive been bitten by a dog before, and a few of my canvasser mates have also, Ive also had a dog bolt out of a house and bite another dog that was being walked by a neighbour.

But as a whole there has been many more positive experiences than negative ones, so dont let the bad knocks put you off just keep soldering on.

Wow Whizz-Bizz you've had some serious nutters! We're there any repercussions with the dog bites??

My mate who got bit, actually pidgeon holed the dog owner into giving him £250 compensation, but to be fair the dog ripped his jeans and he had a vicious bite to his leg and he needed shots and lost a days pay.

When I got bit I was a bit luckier he bit my back pocket where my wallet is so no real damage done, I was going to go down the compensation route but I was knocking that day with a cleaner and he made such a drama about having other customers in the street, I never chased it up.

Ive had all sorts over the years, old ladys in the national front, cannabis farms, shagging couples, locked out women who got me to climb through a window. Dog poo infested houses, indecent propositions, Ive had women in towells, men in leotards.

The truth is you never know whats behind that door, until you knock it.

whizz bizz you must have a fat wallet old lad if i got bit on my wallet wouldnt stop the dogs teeth a tell thee hahaha.

this is why i never knock doors i just flyer not into that door knocking i dont even like ringing a take away lol

Door knocking can be a roller coaster of emotions, with amazing highs and terrible lows. Personally if I was a cleaner I would dedicate 2 whole days a week to knocking, I wouldnt clean on those days just hit the doors 10-2 then again 4-7 and actually treat it as 2 seperate jobs.

Every No you get is one step closer to that Yes so just dig your heels in and carry on.

Must admit it is a buzz when you get a yes, was out posting yesterday with my 12 year old daughter, if i saw anybody i just talked to them and asked them picked 2 up and post 500 flyers

You wont have over inflated ideas on how good the customers are going to be, because youve seen it with your own eyes. Customers lie. Even I get wrong sometimes and its always the overly keen ones that do it.

If its not a 'no cold calling zone' I knock the door anyway. A lot of the signs say about no door sales ect. I just tell them I'm not selling anything, I'm just a window cleaner offering my services.
