Heard a rumour that if wfp window cleaning it is possible to approach council to be able to stop on lines whilst working but you have to be working any one know if this is true thanks in advance for believe you can't if your trad as seen in local window cleaner got fined and as gone ballistic writing to papers was parked on car park at rear of property and should have used customers visitor pass don't know how he would do that as custy probably not in to be fair(meant to say parking permit via council for yellows)

You could to take someone with you with a disable badge, my dad has a couple of jobs on doubles or hard to park areas and my mum sit in the van. Other option is to buy a backpack and pack the van up somewhere else and walk

This is something i am debating now tbh!

We all run of trolleys. Backpacks on a trolley (not paying £600 for a pure freedom one!) as i think running hoses over a pavement is just asking for it?

I have got professional signs and cones, but if somebody trips over my hose i am liable.

BUT with me getting on a bit, i am thinking of running off the van. We have all the parts!

I am 100% Positive the council wont give permission to run a hose over a pavement??

We used to get dispensations in london. So you could park on certain roads for a week at a time and get no trouble. They then changed it to daily! So every day you had to go get it.

I still like the trolleys but i must admit i find my self wanting to use a different van so i can run from it.

Think i might convert mine over weekend. I got the parts.

stick with the trolley damo, cant go wrong. i know its a pain taking it out and filling it up but its only a few mins all up aint it. i love my trolley and when i get a van ill still use a trolley. i wont have a watertank in the back. ill have seperate water barrels loaded up. didnt know you could get in trouble tho for trailing a hose over the pavement /emoticons/ohmy.png

The council wont give permission for it that why.

HMMM still need a pump setup tho, all the pipes are installed. Including under van ports so might as well /emoticons/biggrin.png

may aswell install it yes, surely there are houses where you can park in gardens etc. im luck being most my works in villages so i dont get yellow lines.

Was looking at big office block other day three parking spaces at rear but window frontage all double lined four floors just wondered if it was possible pavement was narrow too looked at some small shop frontages other day saw kid wfp with brodex pole nearly nocking people over trying to get finished to move on with van

Got a ticket in Manchester city centre last year while changing flat tyre in works car could of swung for him couldn't get it dropped either you just deal with a call centre in wythenshawe

I've not got a ticket yet parking on yellows or in residential parking spaces with cones out on the road & paving but like someone said before you are supposed to get a works permit from the council.

After saying that I would not park on yellows near junctions or pedestrian crossing as that's when I would use my wfp trolley instead

And yes I've seen many where they are standing in the road without cones too. The worst one I've see was a numpty cleaning a 4 storey building standing in the inside lane of a busy town centre road with traffic trying to get past him. Go Figure

You could to take someone with you with a disable badge' date=' my dad has a couple of jobs on doubles or hard to park areas and my mum sit in the van.[/quote']Total misuse of the badge.....and things like that realy p!ss me off  .

Hmmm, I call that bad form mucker... Surely if you did get caught working with someone else’s disability badge in the van the council could rescind it for being misused regardless if she has gone shopping or not?

Not if she goes shopping at the same time

Royal Mail vans can park anywhere except a marked loading bay....

My brother is a Royal Mail van driver /emoticons/smile.png

So long as they are only a couple of minutes then its usually ok for delivery drivers.

yeh ive seen delivery drivers park where they want. do they have special badges? also seen the police parking as-well and contractors for the council do it as-well. i know about this as i used to be a contractor for the council we were told if were working on on busy roads ALWAYS have the flashing yellow lights going on top of the pickup.

am sure as long as back door is open and you are working form it, then you are fine, as this is why vans can be loaded outside shops
