Hi people,

I'm currently working on a building site stripping new Windows witch have stickers on. Once pulled off nothing seems to get rid off it. I've tried cif and turps but it's not budging. any ideas?

Scraper with fresh blade should get most of it off. From there you could use white spirit I suppose, or some specialist stuff called 'sticky stuff remover'. I have some left over from decorating jobs, but never need to use it as scraper and scrim remove most.

I have done quite a few of these, are you having trouble with manufactures stickers on the glass, or the protective film on the frames? any chance of a uploading a photo

Wipe a ubik or virosol soaked rag on it and then scrape it straight off with a blade

Hi kahoona it's the manufactures stickers that I'm having trouble with. Have no photos to hand sorry.

okay if its stickers on the glass and normal detergents and water not removing the sticker residue i'd suggest going down the solvent route. I have used all three of the ones I mentioned in my previous post buy the evo-stik one was the best. I'm sure there are other good ones out there. you know if your on the right track when age restrictions apply! so make sure you dont breathe in to much of the fumes.

I bought some apparently "sticky stuff remover" from Wickes it's rubbish that evostick stuff the guy suggested looks ok generally if it smells solventy it'll probably work.

Valet Pro Citrus Tar & Glue remover can be bought from www.cleanyourcar.co.uk , I have had some for years works a treat i also have an aerosol citrus based glue remover which i picked up from Lidl about 3 years ago which i carry in my unger pouch to remove sticky tap etc from frames .

I use Titan green rub over the sticker then Leave for ten minutes, remove sticker with scraper it will come straight off then with a sponge soaked in Titan rub the area where the sticker was this will remove any residual adhesive finally trad the window as normal.

Virosol and a scraper..job done

That is the citrus that shifts it i think although i find soaping it up and using a scraper properly removes 99% of sticker glue anyway
