To be fair most normal car mechanics will work on a van... and even they charge upwards of £50 an hour round here.
Horses for courses as they say. Some (like me) might not have a lot of spare cash going but have a half decent tool set so crack on if they can while others might have so much...
I'm half way through removing an engine head from a volvo. I'll happily trade your brakes for my engine rebuild - this really is the worst time of year to be doing it.
Depends which one you use.
If you use the cheap non-branded ones yes i compltely agree their quality is inferior trash, If you use a quality one (Clarke Strong Arm - available from machine mart) then you'll be surprised at just how much better they are. I've had mine something like 18 years.
facebook marketplace and ebay are good places to find used stuff.
Make sure you get one of Gardiners back packs - they're a great bit of kit even if you only have one to fall back on in case your van pump is out of action - unless it freezes solid like mine did today (that'll teach me for not...
I already have that problem so it doesn't worry me too much but cheers for the pointer.
I can't say i'm wild about the idea of using gloves (expense etc) but i also don't like getting me hands dirty from the hose when it's been all over the ground and collected all the dirt etc.
Ditto. I get cracked skin all over my knuckles and do the same as you however i do let my skin get sweaty as i find it softens it up remarkably well. It might not be the best thing to do from a medical POV but i've found it works far better and pain free than any cream - which always stings like...
Wow.. all kicked off since i was last here. Who'd think that providing childcare was acceptable these days?
I'm not really entirely sure that matters does it? But as you asked, I'm in the south east.
I've got to be completely honest and say I don't understand it all as clearly as you...
Well last night (and the one before) was pretty damn cold here in my area. Went out to check the van late at night as there is always condensation on the roof in those temperatures.
None. Not a drop. The clingfilm over the tank was covered in water again and the van hasn't moved for days.
It's a funny old game.. but it's also a numbers one as many on here will tell you. I still have a window cleaner, they're quite open that they rake in loads of extra money in tips, I've had a few this year which was nice compared to last year. The thing is, the more customers you have, the more...
Last year i had plenty of cancellations at xmas.. and just one tip. It was brutal.
This year it's the opposite for some reason. Can't explain it, there's no logical reason other than maybe its the customers feeling more at ease with me? - I dunno but hang in there matey, just keep at it.
i used to be alright with a fiver however the one customer i did that for used to get very snotty with me turning up - even though she requested me - as i'd ring her the night before to tell her i was coming and it would (i think) catch her out. This was her request too - i did tell her that she...
Note the rain on the inside of the clingfilm this morning (along with a quick hole i poked in it so i could use the pump).
As you can see, it's pretty well covered - and that's after i've been driving around allowing some of it to fall back down. I also still have a dry roof!
Since these...
But have you tried it? There are complex cures to a lot of problems we encounter and there is nearly always a very simple trick to solving them too.
But it's accumulative and that's what you're forgetting. It will evaporate one evening and form a thin layer which doesn't dry out unless you wipe...
Yet with a simple bit of cling film, my roof which was covered in water drops, now has none. The cling film however was absolutely covered in it underneath / inside the tank side though (just as the top of the tank often is). Again, you say minimal but I think you are claiming that with no...
Hi all,
Fed up with water on the inside of your van roof? Feel grim about it rusting to bits? Me too! So i've done something about it.
Basic physics: At night, the air pressure drops, the air expands, the water within decompresses, water also evaporates and floats up. This is why so many cars...
I'm not exactly quick but i've found a few shortcuts..
If using a hosereel. (eg van mount) start at the front of the property and work towards the back. If you start at the back then as you come round the hose gets snagged on things as it loops. If you work towards the back then when you're...
No offence intended here but you're laughing at him while he's doing a good thorough job. That's nothing to be proud of fella.
I commend the guy. I also do under the sills too. It makes an amazing difference. Whats the point cleaning the glass and top side of the sills if people can still see...
