Adding gutter cleaning to window cleaning business - separate declaration required to HMRC?

Yes indeedy! Formerly a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and I've been a manager at two firms of Chartered accountants as well as FD of three decent-sized companies.  Accountancy went a bit pear shaped when I had a breakdown, called a client a c u next...

Adding gutter cleaning to window cleaning business - separate declaration required to HMRC?

If two trades are "similar", you can group them together. Being "related" is not necessarily enough to justify grouping them together. If you were determined to treat it as one trade (and there are a few reasons that I wouldn't) then it would be best to seek confirmation from HMRC or an...

Thanks @Dave B - I've been an accountant for nearly 25 years but only do about four personal tax returns nowadays so wasn't sure! ?

Adding gutter cleaning to window cleaning business - separate declaration required to HMRC?

Yeah, it's fine to slightly alter the description of your business on a sole trader tax return. Some people are just downright lazy

As a noob, a few times recently I've looked at the forum and thought "Oh my god, there are so many other people starting up, I won't stand a chance". Then I read their questions and think that if they can't even be bothered to search the forum, use Google, look at supplier websites etc or find...

    Walking window cleaner

I admire your enthusiasm to just get on with it! Been thinking about cycling with a ladder - I'm surrounded by terraced streets with no parking which most local windys don't seem to bother with... ?

Newbie - just cleaned my first windows!

I live some of the time in Suffolk, between Bury and Stowmarket, but most of the time I'm at my partner's place in Cambridge... Spotless were supposedly opening up in Bury "within weeks", but now it's "at some point in the future"... I think TR Cleaning in Cambridge do sell pure water though...

Newbie - just cleaned my first windows!

After a month of reading forum posts thought I'd sign up and say thanks for so much great content on here! I'm 99% certain to lose my job shortly and decided I'd like to start cleaning windows... and even if I don't lose my job, I really can't stick what I'm doing any longer anyway. I'm not in...
