I am shocked.I started working for myself in April this year and so far with new van I have managed to spent 15k on gear and other bits and pieces.I am really busy but it will take long time until it will pay for itself.

I know the feeling mate, I'm handyman too. Its a good job I like buying tools, but if someone had told me how much they would cost I probably would have never gotten into such a varied trade. That said, I like how varied it is, and some jobs can be very profitable when you get away from the little odd jobs.

I like variety so I do not get bored.At the moment I am painting 13 floors block of flats...3 days a week if I have time.

dont forget though...you still have tools to sell...you need to invest to grow...i have absolutely no regrets over my move to wfp and am sure soon i will move that way more....and of course ..more money...slx..hmmm

It won’t, or it shouldn’t. Have a look at how much you have earned since you started.

The hard thing will be to not waste any future disposable income; business cost and living cost (which probably will be more) must be spent. But it is possible to save the equivalent of your initial investment each year.

Good luck with it all, and keep an eye on making sure you get paid well for your services.

I have not earned much yet to be honest with you.I dio not think that I will save much at least in next 3 years.competition is fierce and prices low for window ckeaning.besides wfp cleaners are much quickier=cheaper.

with you on that rshandyman...its good to hear that others suffer from severe competition in their area as some on here seem to just pick up juicy jobs easy....i find it hard to get what i would really like but you have to keep plugging away...i will get there in the end...

some windys travel miles to work in my area...where i live....and do the windows for silly prices....

I had to do a business plan for my grant

Council paid for my tools and I reckon I will saving quite a bit considering the wages I have been living on

Trad has it's advantages when starting up

Especially when ypu already have some gear

Wife's wages are very good and pay the bills as she is a specialist teacher working with blind kids and teaching the teachers braille so mine is a bonus

yeh same here dave ..wifes pays the bills and i am the cash flow....

all methods take time to get right...but dont forget to look at h s new vid that s scary fast...i wish i could do that...i faff about too much...
