Server Fees Donations/ Forum running costs

Hi guys,

I would like to start by saying a big thanks to all of you for chipping in to the Jamiesmack fund, I am sure it has helped them out in some small way during these times.

On the subject of donations you will see on the menu bar at the top of this page a link for 'Donations'

Now whilst Gav will never ask nor stand there with his cap in hand there is costs involved in running a forum and to be fair it is a pretty decent forum we have here thanks to his effort. The goal is to raise £100 per month to help cover the running expenses so we may continue to enjoy a quality place to hang out and talk shop and have a banter.

As I said above, our fearless leader will not ask so I will drop the HINT instead, so please lads, if you like it here and want to help keep up the quality of service Gav provides chip in a couple of quid and between us that target should be destroyed with ease.

gav should up the advertising fees if he needs more money. i did tell him ages ago a good idea would be to write/call up EVERY windie in the country and abroad tellin them bout his forum . a massive task, but undoubtably well worth it.

Or the regulars could just donate a fiver each and sorted! Doubt they can afford it though earning £200 - £300 for 4 hour days. Perhaps I am being optimistic. /emoticons/smile.png)

this was tried a while back with a fee for being a member u got upgraded

i dont see it as a bad thing i tihkn if he sits down and be realistic in hw much it cost per year divide it by regular members and u get it

how much members is active on the site ? not ones who post once in a blue moon but ones who be on weekly must be at least 100 of us

everyone pay 20 per year

then there is your 100 per month covered and some left over

i u took 600 of it away and put it in a pot for moderators and gav to buy we prizes

ie new supplies andf the members who pay get entered into the draw and there be a we draw once a month

then that still leaves and extra 200 quid for @Gav ton tinker with the site /emoticons/tongue.png

must be about time for gav to organize an event something in the real world to big up the profile of the forum. it doesnt need to be a show just a day of summat intresting to anyone . one thing that comes to my mind is a height display maybe WFP 6 storeys with also a 6 storey ladder . down below an old guy from yesteryear is replacing a broken rung on a wooden ladder you get my drift

Personally I think the membership wouldn't work, just cause even regulars sometimes take a break and knowing there is a membership to get upgraded would put some new members off of becoming pro active.

It is just a simple fact that there i costs involved, advertisers only advertise cause they feel it's a bargain (as in cheap)

Let's be honest, if I saw you in the pub the conversation goes 'let me buy you a pint mate' well that's all this is, if we all bought him a pint well who knows (he may get a sense of humor) /emoticons/smile.png) JK

At the end of the day there is no cost to members, just a nice gesture to show appreciation to someone whom without we would all be sstuck on CIU or stuck watching East Enders with the Mrs!

then the we raffle performed by moderators every month would pick at random one of the 100

Cheers to those that donated. Membership never worked, raffles maybe but again can't see it working. The reson i didt make a big thing of this is that it's not a requirement, its not about who should pay or not. Its just their if people feel the need to show their appreciation for the site, the work that goes in to it etc.

I only charge 30p per post.
