As above ^

I need one in two weeks time, and the local tool hire place says you need a certificate - £180 to do the course!

I could of sworn you didn't need one? I thought it was jusg advisable?

Anyone know the laws?

It's also advisable to get the hire firm to do a site survey so they can advise the most suitable bit of kit for the job.

I hire a 20m self drive on a flat bed nissan truck about 4 times a year, from a nationa hire company. Never had ipaf in my life, never been asked for it.

Who do you hire from?

I thought that was the case, but my local access hire place won't do them without an ipaf now, so annoying!

Well its truck mounted so technically not a self propelled boom. So no ipaf needed. Plus you can move it between sites and jobs your self with no delivery charges! Loxam access or facelift access

Its not a legal requirement though. Although most commercial clients will require you to have PAL. Or they assume you have it if you look professional enough!

We found a company that dont require any form of ipaf etc.

It's not a legal requirement, but it is the way things are going,

We hired one today - pics are in pressure washing forum...
