just received new gardiner 25 ft slx pole and not sure of the new finish compared to the one i had a few years ago .

the old pole was very smooth and easy to move up or down and the new one seems to have each section, which seems to me like some kind of tape wrapped all around the pole !

its not as smooth to move up or down compared to the older 22 slx i have and am concerned that over time this tape will start peeling off and cause all sorts of problems ?????

Has anyone got one of these new taped ones ? and how's it holding up ?

i assume you are mean

"Matt finish - Maximum surface hardness"

best thing Alex ever did.

Harder to damage poles,

Reduces problems with grit.

Stronger more rigid poles.

Hardly ever get black hands now

^^^ Above is what we have noticed over months and months of use"

the old pole was the matt finish which was great , but this new one is different with some sort of tape wound around the pole or a kind of pvc shrink wrap ?? its certainly not as smooth as the old gardiner pole for sure !!

i can only guess they've done this to eliminate the carbon dust altogether which it does do . but in doing so the pole is not so smooth now shifting up or down .

With use this wears down and it becomes a

Lovely pole. If you are concerned use some PTFE spray on the sections

so damo....has the smax got the matt finish aswell ?

smax is a slx really but in a bigger version isnt it
