RED AND GREEN SQUEEGEE RUBBERS

Did a 45 quid job today after my razr arrived, mostly huge conservatory and not even scuffed the edges of my rubbers on it

My theory is that Unger make 4 grades of rubber. The green, which is ultra soft and therefore useless and was only ever intended for showboating and letting people know you play for team green. A medium grade soft in black, then a medium hard in black. Then they also make an ultra hard in red, which is maybe what the fireblade stuff is; intended for janitorial use, not just on glass but on harder surfaces like floors walls etc

I think we always really just wanted the hardest, most durable rubber available, but they don't want to officially offer it, since they need built in obsolescence to sell us more blades.

I don't actually know if the red is unger. I'm going to buy some anyway

The fireblade definitely isn't the hard unger

It is reasonably but not too soft

It is softish (softer than unger or ettore hard rubber)

It is silicone not rubber so wears differently

And glides better than natural rubber

I used it on a few jobs this morning and friday and only just taking the shine off the tips

Not worn at all just slightly buffed
