Leisure battery charging

When it comes to charging my battery I always use the lowest amps on my smart charger, it ranges from 2-8 amps in increments of 2's,

So I charge it at 2 Amps, but i can't remember where I read to do this,

I was told it's much better to charge leisure battery's at a low rate for health of the battery, anyone else do this?

Trickle charge baby! Also better for battery health if you have **** loads of amp hours and just dip into them when you're using. So they say. I've always hammered leisure batteries though.

I have no idea as mines connected to the vans battery via an alternator......would be interested to find out how it charges but wouldn't know how to find out.

All depends on the condition of both batteries and alternator, there is no

fixed charge rate with an alternator apart from the voltage regulator max output.

Its probably not a bad idea to check battery and alternator condition yourself

from time to time with a multi meter.
