Pole Washing Systems. Worth The Money?

S

Ste Lamb

Hi, my name is Steven Lamb, I am a window cleaner from Lancashire and I was wondering weather it would be worth buying a pole washing system. I have been dwelling on the idea for a while and have been seriously thinking about buying one after I took a bad fall just a few weeks ago. I would prefer a trolley mounted one as I feel it would be more efficient as I only do residential work. Could I have some feedback please and buying advice. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about the fall, hope you're okay.

Yer they are well worth the money.

Buying advise, depends what you budget is and it you are any good at diy to make you own.

Thanks for that advice I'm up for getting a WFPS it all depends on whether my customers will accept me using one

Could say due to safety and an accident I have to use the pole up stairs and if you wanted to still use do trad down stairs, see how they get on, might even be able to change them all over to wfp!

welcome to the forum

am sure most of your customers wont mind aslong as the windows are clean

Thanks lads for your advice getting more confident by the hour. I was thinking very much the same myself . It's glad to see I was not barking up the wrong tree. General public hard work!! But if you treat them wright they're loyal customers and look after you . You don't get that in any other business.

I think wfp tops and trad bottoms is a great idea. I am lazy lol, so i dont do that.

WFP is great, its not perfect.

i do wfp tops and trad bottoms and works great for me, hard to reach bottoms get wfp lol, customer happy lost about 10 customer but soon replaced them

u soon run out of water doing full houses wfp......

i would keep an eye out on ebay for used system or u can get full van set up for about a grand or less off purefreedom.co.uk they do some good diy kits that are easy enough to fit,

unless your houses are all close together and u do more time walking then van mount are better,

most seen to buy trolly system and then change to van mounts as easyer.

most important thing is gettig your water pure, untill its reading 000 on your tds metre dont clean any of your customers windows

theres plenty of help on here to get you any advice u need

I am the opposite, tried a van mount but i am quicker with a trolley.

So far since changing to the big boy back pack i havent yet ran out of water on a house.

I would love todo trad bottoms, wfp tops but too late for that now.

Hi Steven,

Yes they are worth the money. A wfp system is basically a plastic water tank in a secured stainless steel frame, they can last years. Replacing parts like the 12v pump isn’t expensive.

Operating cost goes up, but this is small compared to the extra possible earnings. Choose a wfp system that meets your requirements for your round & future round - if you decide to go for work you didn’t consider before. Small commercial / industrial work with plenty of glass often takes about 20 minutes cleaning time when you’re up to speed. You should be able to sustained 2.3 jobs per hour charging each customer £25-35.

I started out with a trolley and hated it i love lugging my backpack about tho better then a trolley

Van mount is the best tho lol

You have had a wakeup call like so many trad guys have had. Some sadly don't get a second chance so investing in WFP kit is a no brainer if you ask me. /emoticons/wink.png

Same here, you get to be able to judge how much you will use on a house and wether to change the barrel before you start it.

got a mate starting up, he wants to know weather to have trolly of back pack ?

told him the wcw big boy sounds good,

ste why dont you see what lads are local to you & see if you can have a look at their systems, it would give you an ide of how heavy poles are as well
