I know this has been covered before, but a lot of the answers were inconclusive. Got to clean a humongous conny roof next week with self cleaning glass. Would you risk some virosol on it? I don't have ubik, so please don't suggest that. Or do you reckon simple elbow grease? I've done hundreds of conny roofs, but this is my first self cleaning one

I always got told by the smurf who fid a lot of conny roofs etc not to use any chems on self cleaning glass

Not sure if it would be ok or not

Is thay conclusive enough Steve??

I dont care you don't have any Steve! Go buy some!! But on a serious note, I have never used Virosol as I do have Ubik and have never had issue using it on self cleaning glass.

If you are that paranoid just use a much weaker solution than usual, rinse and repeat until desired effect reached.

I was told by a conny installer that had just fitted a self cleaning conny some 7 years back that they tell the customer that 'you don't need to use any chemicals on it as it's self cleaning, not that you can't' I remember asking him as it was a hot topic on one of the other forums at the time.

Pilkington have a list of cleaners that they have tested on their glass. I don't recognise most of them.

Mr Muscle window cleaner is OK by the way.

look down to page 27.

Dish washing liquid is fine according to Pilkington.

They say squeegee rubbers damage the surface.

A company specialising in cleaning rays of solar panels gave this advise on another forum a couple of years ago.

"Normally we use citrusol neat, but did a 50/50 mix instead as customer was very anxious. Came up brilliantly and she was well happy. Use the virusol but water it down a little and I'm sure you'll be fine."

However to be safe I would contact the manufacturers and ask them

I guess a soft flocked brush would be best.

I don't have a conservatory with self cleaning glass on my round, so I can't offer any advise from personal experience.
