I have checked the backapcks and refreshed my memory on their internal construction. The backpack batteries are held in position by two brackets which prevent excess sideways movement. They cannot move upwards due to the tank above them so are only able to move around a little during use. In order for it to have broken free during shipping it must have been completely abused by FedEx and may have broken the brackets holding it in place. For standard use and shipping though the battery is safe and secure as it is.
The electrical connections are of very high quality and designed to withstand a lot of use. Most of the components are connected inside with 'car grade' plug-in connectors which will last a lifetime. Connections on the back of switches, battery, etc are all soldered on to prevent 'dry-joints' or poor connections. This is far superior for long term use than simple spade push-on terminals that many similar units feature.
