Pump Without Controller

I have recently purchased a new pump as my old one packed up after 8 years so I think I had my moneys worth out of it.

The new pump is a Shurflo 100psi and its typical but the controller has decided to pack up as well. I can't afford one just yet due to saving for my tax.

Can I run the pump without the controller for a long period? I have used it for the past two weeks and although the flow is strong and I go through a lot more water I can turn it down slightly with my tap.

I've had mine 4 years with no controller, but think it has a by pass and relay system to stop it getting damaged
